The estate agents working at chancellors are incredibly rude and incompetent. We have recently just tried to rent a property through them and at every point we were confused, given conflicting information and left in the dark about what was happening with our application. I have never been spoken to so poorly or rudely, with one estate agent actually saying to me ‘I don’t see what your problem is’. Communication was so poor throughout and we were often given less than 24 hours to do certain things otherwise our application would be unable to progress. Once, we were given only 6 hours to transfer over our deposit and rent without confirmation that the property was legally ours. We were often left unable to contact anyone to ask questions and I’m still awaiting my call from management! Chancellors ruined what should have been a very exciting time for us.

Every dealing we’ve had with Chancellor’s has been terrible. Rude, arrogant and unhelpful is how I would describe every member of staff I’ve dealt with. We have moved out of our rental property, our landlord has said we can have our full deposit back but chancellors are ignoring our calls and emails. I’m absolutely disgusted with this situation - think long and hard before you use this estate agency.

Chancellors Group of Estate Agents Wow, what a Proffesional outfit again. Oh Mr Evenett we haven’t bothered checking our records so your gas safety is out of date. Can you turn off your gas supply. Um what about heat and hot water but no one can answer the question! This company is unreal, don’t know why landlords bother with them. Take money for doing nothing and happy for the second time in a year to leave a family out in the cold…….can’t go anywhere as one of the daughters has covid!! Fuming is an understatement

please do avoid using Chancellor's Newbury. My Mum rented her apartment through Chancellor's and she sadly passed away in Sept. No help has been provided by them to move the rent to the estate. They are withholding money. I have sent them all the documentation they have asked for and yet still no one responds. They don't call back and they don't email back. Two months on from my first phone call and they have not progressed anything or called me back once. thanks for being totally uncaring Chancellor's

Avoid at all costs! They lie about everything and mislead people. I moved into a letting property as I was relocating for work and so was my partner. The three bedroom property was advertised as being refurbished and newly decorated. I was told it was going through further refurbishments and a new heating system was being put in. I lived 2.5 hours and decided from the photographs that were spotless that it was the right property. I had similarly done the same before in my previous rental as the pictures were true to light and never had any issues. Well this was the most disgusting property I’ve ever moved into, the property had damp and mould everywhere and stunk of it. There was no heating and we were only left with 3 small plug in heaters for a three bedroom house! Shoddy electrics, No cleaning had taken place for years and dirt all over the carpets and walls. even the door handle fell off when I put the key into the door. It was a shambles. After 9 days I had enough and moved all out belongings out and handed the keys back. My partner suffers from asthma and we had no choice but to move into my dads garage until we were able to find a suitable property which took 3 months to find. It crazy it was healthier than the house we were in, it was impossible to breath at night and we both ended up getting infections and ended up in hospital. My partner lost his job as he doesn’t drive and I was unable to take him from my dads house. I’ve been told by the neighbours they have done the same to previous tenants and they had to move out. They are massive liars and don’t listen to anything. We reported all these issues over 50+ emails and nothing got done. We are now in the process of taking them to court. I want my money back! Loss of income and removal fees and compensation for all the hassle of having to live in a garage for 3 months in suitcases and travel 140 miles per day for my new job. The whole reason I moved there in the first place. I have so much evidence it’s unreal. Looking forward to taking these guys down. Turns out they do it to everyone! Not me.

AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!Dealt with Chancellors ( chancers ) Northwood, absolutely terrible. Jack was our ‘agent’, atrocious. No idea how to do his job, no communication, lied constantly, terrible experience. Wasted 4 months of my life and multiple hundreds of pounds of my money. Seller pulled out ultimately and spoke to Umed branch manager and Kelly, even further up the line. They don’t care, no apology for lack of professionalism.Looked at properties in other areas and seems Chancers are well known for being dreadful and providing bad experiences.Save yourself, don’t use them. Disgusted with the experience.

I am very disappointed by how I was treated by your Bracknell branch today. I went to view a flat I saw on Rightmove, that was 10 times smaller than the pictures and not even available to let. The letting agent, Martha, suggested it was my fault as I should have guessed the size from the price point. A better solution would be to just show pictures of how the flats actually look.. I can let a few square foot here and there slip, but the pictures made it look 10 times bigger, and it was described to me as “massive” and “huge” by the agent and it was probably about 400 square feet, although I was never able to obtain the floor plan or room measurements! There are currently a lot of tenants on the market looking for rentals…there really is no need to misrepresent properties to such an extent. I have seen this both on the rental and buying side and it really is not acceptable. It is misleading and it is misrepresentation. I took half a day of work unpaid, to view these flats and drove a 3 hour round trip - are Chancellors going to pay me back for the lost time at work and wasted fuel? I arrived 10 minutes late because the building name was not included in the address emailed to me, but that was my fault too apparently, because I was told everyone else was able to find it! She then told me because I was late she would not be able to show me all the flats and I would only be able to see one or 2! On a separate occasion I spoke to Richard at the branch regarding these flats, and although initially I was advised there was only one “massive” flat available as a ‘show home’, he then advised he had just let another one the same size that day and was awaiting confirmation details. I asked him if he could kindly let me know if these details were not received, as I would like to let it (based on the amazing pictures I had seen, and his enthusiasm about their size). His response was ‘“I don’t know if I’ll have time, we’re very hard pushed here you know, I might not be able to”. He then hung up. I have to question why he told me about a flat in the first place, that was already in the process of been let, and that he was not prepared to contact me about, if guarantor details were not received? Interesting sales technique! I think some of your staff could really do with training on attitude and customer service. The way I have been treated by this branch from start to finish has been really appalling 👎🏻 Another bone of contention is that half to 70% of Chancellors rentals and properties to buy on Rightmove and Zoopla are not actually available, because they are not marked as under offer or sold until they actually exchange. They are therefore marked as available but are in fact NOT AVAILABLE. This does kind of render these websites useless, when customers looking for a property cannot distinguish what is and isn’t available. Please use the website for what it is intended- to help both sellers AND BUYERS find a property. Having spoken to a couple of Chancellors agents about this, they told me they receive this complaint from buyers all day long, but it appears you are doing nothing about it…. WHY? What is even more frustrating, is that when calling a branch about one of these properties, the agent refuses to give any details about the property ‘s availability until they spend 5 minutes on the phone with you registering you with their branch and taking all your details, only to then tell you the property is already let or under offer and often sold as well! FRUSTRATING is an understatement! 😡👎🏼 UPDATE: Having just read other reviews on here, I feel humbled. It looks like some people’s experiences have been ten times worse than my own.. they have my sympathy!

A number of days after my tenants moved out of my property and while I was preparing to move back in. Chancellors sent in a contractor to undertake an electrical survey. The first I knew of it was when I received an invoice for the survey in the amount of £525 plus VAT and a list.of £1300 worth of work. Following a complaint I received an email saying you authorised the survey in March at a cost £200 plus VAT. Unfortunately the survey was delayed sorry for the inconvenience. That is palmed off to say the least. 1. It's August not March or April 2. I am no longer renting the property out 3. My agreement with Chancellors has ended 4. The quote was £200 not £525 5. They were not authorised to enter my house. I am more than inconvenienced

I had 5 viewings booked with chancellors for one day in Oxford as I live 2 hours away. They decided to cancel 4 of the viewings the night before because in the 2 days since I had booked the viewing they had all become let agreed apparently. I thought oh well I still have 2 viewings (one with another agent which was also cancelled in the morning) and finally 2 hours before after I had already made the trip down they decided to cancel my final viewing because the tenant wouldn’t give them the key or something. Absolutely fuming with it to be honest. Thank you chancellors for wasting my time and money :)))))) and this is not the first time this has happened I understand people take houses quickly here but this is insane …
