really disappointing, I have an idea that dexters distribution was related to their good reputation but unfortunately they have financial power as what happened to me proved that they don't care about the tenant as recently happened they forced us to release the security deposit and got our furniture disposed off without our permission
Looking to RENT These guy's are the worst. They have a habit of doing block impersonal viewing followed up by a call saying they have a lot of interest in the property so would you like to increase you offer. Great if you want to pay the most for a property and drive up housing costs in times of economic uncertainty. Absolute typical estate agent a-holes. Never use these scumbags
I don’t want to tell name but I am really disappointed
I instructed Dexters of Kingston to market my property in April, whilst the staff were all professional, i found them completely useless and immediately changed estate agents soon as our contract expired. I strongly advise sellers to chose an alternative. I posponed writing this review until an alternative estate agent successfully marketed and sold my property. I therefore write this review knowing how an experience with an estate agent should be. My property was a very small, mid terraced house in SW london - if you are selling a similar property (300 - 400k) this review is very relevant, My issue was that whilst the staff were professional and they gave a very polished presentation to win my business, dexters weren't competent in even the basics of selling a property. As a result they were completely infective at marketing the property - when i switched agent, the new agent achieved more viewings in a single weekend than dexters achieved in 8 weeks!!! My 3 biggest issue were: 1 - Price - They mis-valued the property by £80k (17%)! I strongly challenged them twice at the time as their valued price as i made no sense to me relative to other properties on the market. My words were ‘i don’t want to be greedy, i just want it sold’. They assured me this was the right price to ‘test the market’. I trusted them against all logic as they are the professionals so i assumed they knew better. I had to make multiple price adjustments because of that incorrect value making me look a weak seller. 2 - Photos - the photos were awful! The person talking the photos clearly had no eye for a photo and the camera wasn’t even a very wide angle lens. As a result, the house looked dark, small and depressing. The photos from the alternative agent were in a completely different league. In fairness, when i challenged them they did take more photos but they too were low quality. (In particular, the bedroom has a fireplace yet in the 1st set of photos, the fireplace wasn’t visible - isn’t that a feature to be highlighted!?!). When i gave them notice of contract termination they commissioned a professional however even these photos where worse than the alternative agent. 3 - ‘FOR SALE’ sign - I wasn’t living at the property at the time. When i happened to drive past the property a few weeks after commissioning them, i realised they hadn’t even put up a ‘for sale sign’. I had to remind them that they needed to put up a ‘for sale’ sign!!!! Their reason for not putting up a sign was that they lost an email regarding organising it. In conclusion, i strongly recommend against dexters. I believe i would of had to massively under value the property for dexters to be able to sell it - i got £5k over my target price via the other agent. If you chose to use dexters i suggest you verify their valued price makes sense, insist on profesional photographers (and, just incase, you’d best check they remembered to put up a ‘for sale’ sign...) Good luck selling your property.
I was initially recommended to ask 1,125pcm. Despite opting out of the Full Mnagement option, I was sent a letter of intent specifiying Full Management. I explicitly stated that I wanted to rent for a max or 2 years. I was then asked (twice) if I'd consider the five year plan service. Just over a week later, Dexter's "Expert Opinion" was that I should accept an offer of 1,030. And by the way the tenant wanted a 3 year lease. I had to, once again, point out that 2 years was the max. Not very impressive.
happy to take lanlords property but puts in any old rubbish tenants
