Moving house is never easy but from start to finish JW Wood made the process as straight forward as possible. Their valuer was knowledgeable and laid out a clear approach to achieving the best price and ALL staff members were a pleasure to deal with. I will certainly be recommending them to my friends and have no hesitation in using them again.
Responses to our offers to purchase the property on Hillcrest , Durham were promptly handled by Ann Stobart and the follow up checks and sale confirmation was completed the same day .
Our initial contacts were very good getting the house on the market at Christmas. We had very few viewings until about May and we had to reduce our price twice. Even so we had to accept a lower offer, and we felt a bit under pressure to do so, perhaps because of a lack of understanding. However we made a sale, and have very good service since then.
The service from JW Woods and Ann Stobbs was excellent. They kept us updated as to what was going on (it just confirmed the information we had already received from our solicitors, but if you solicitor is bad they will be a great help). I can't comment on how they are to sell your home as we used Strike, it cost us nothing and the service was incredible, including negotiation on price at 10pm. So I can't recommend them as I'd recommend Strike. But as someone to buy from they are excellent.
Geoff provided realistic, accurate and attractive information about the house. JW Wood attracted suitable purchasers. Helen kept us informed of visits to the house and feedback afterwards. Elaine, from the after sales team, always kept us up to date and provided useful information. She did her upmost to chivvy solicitors when things were going more slowly than was desirable. A good service all round.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Had a viewing for a property near Durham, told them I am coming from Leeds. The evening before got a message from the agency to remind me of the viewing. Got there on time , the owner said they do not do any more viewings since they accepted an offer last week. Called the agency no one was picking the phone. Answeared 20 mins later said they still do viewings even when the offer was accepted which made no sense specially knowing I am traveling from Leeds and it is a 1 hour 45 mins drive, not fair towards me (customer) knowing they accepted an offer and my chances are close to 0 in buying this property. Could have informed we accepted an offer but in case you still want to see it in if it doesn't go through you are welcome to come. Worst customer experience ever. Thinking that way your agency will decline soon.
Rented a property from JW Wood and found them to be completely unsatisfactory. -During a property inspection while our flat was vacant, their staff negligently altered the thermostat resulting in an electric bill exceeding £1,000. We had to beg them to contribute to this bill and were forced to threaten legal action. No apology was received -Staff conducted an unprofessional check out inspection where they expressed their glee over tiny specs of dirt found in remote corners of the flat. Following the inspection, they wrongfully deducted more than half of our deposit. -During our deposit dispute, the agency submitted inaccurate evidence to the adjudicator (TDS), using pictures of ANOTHER flat to justify their deposit deductions. We received the majority of our disputed deposit back after lengthy proceedings. -An entire year after we left the property, they mistakenly sent an email for the current tenants, disclosing that they were deducting over £700 from their deposit. It was distressing to see that even a whole year later, JW Wood could not even bother to check the names of who they were intending to scam next. Students avoid renting properties with JW Woods. Landlords, if you want to retain an ounce of professionalism, choose another agency.
Duplicitous charlatans. We put in an offer for a property, which was accepted by the landlord and we were told we would be contacted to start referencing/application process but received nothing from them. When I chased this up I was told that they had let agreed with someone else and the agent had the gall to try and laugh it off and made-up feeble excuses. I was never contacted to say that another offer had been accepted or that ours had been rejected. This has caused us a huge unnecessary stress in our move and will likely leave us out of pocket as well. If you are looking for a home, avoid this company at all costs - if you look at the other reviews, the vast majority of the positive ones are from landlords & sellers, not renters or buyers.
Rented from JW Wood, and they acted extremely unprofessionally, frequently came to our house unannounced, did not send a check-in report upon move-in, charged us £1560 at checkout (which we just got back via a TDS), lying and unprofessional emails, landlords and tenants stay clear! The only positive was that Chris Cain was very professional, kind, and helpful.
