Rude staff, don't know who they think they are, get off your high horse AVOID

I have been a tenant with Martin and Co Crewe for several years and I can honestly say that they are the worst company it has ever been my misfortune to deal with . No matter the situation they let us down at every turn either through apathy , incompetence or just a general disregard for us their customers . Avoid this company like the plague as they will cause you nothing but trouble and stress for every second of your dealings with them, they are thoroughly incompetent and shockingly unprofessional.

Absolutely appalled with the customer service at this branch and the perverted branch manager sending inappropriate messages to my sister! Avoid at all costs!

In 2007 they failed to turn up to meet me for a viewing and I found the office staff unapproachable, and rude.

If I could give -10 stars for this company I would. They were very eager to get my business, and I went with this company as I had no other option due to the short notice my previous landlord had given me to move out – if I had read these reviews I would have thought twice. My first month in my flat I was emailing the Crewe branch to find out the bank details to which I should send the rent, and had no call backs, no email responses for weeks. I then receive a letter from Martin & Co stating that they are going to take legal action against me as I have not paid the rent! I had to go into the actual branch to get the bank details from them as they couldn’t be arsed to respond to my phonecalls or emails. In addition to this, when I moved out, they found it justified to charge me £50 to replace a light bulb, which can be bought from Wilkinsons for £2...? They have still not given me back my full deposit (it is now nearly 2 months after my moving out date), as they now claim I owe them £450.00 to repair a wall that has been knocked down. I tried disputing this ridiculous cost with them by saying I would find a cheaper quote, but no one replied to me (surprise surprise)... without confirmation from me they have decided to take the £450 from my deposit anyway, meaning that in order for me to get my money back, I now need to dispute this charge with the Deposit Protection Service, which they have warned me will take a minimum of 28 to resolve! What's more, myself and a friend were out one night, and saw employees from the Crewe branch having a few drinks together, and being polite and friendly, I said hello to them. The branch manager was very polite around his colleagues, but after a few drinks he left his colleagues and stayed with me and my friend, repeatedly saying inappropriate comments to us. Highly inappropriate messages have also been sent to me from him on a social networking site, resulting in me having to block him, as he seems unaware that I am a customer, not a prospective date. Such an unprofessional company! They strive for amazing customer service when they know they are going to get a contract from you, but after you have signed the paperwork, it is evident that they don’t care. Branch manager needs to keep it in his pants and office staff need to learn some basic manners. Wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.

***AVOID*** if you looking for a nightmare this estate agency is the place to go, rude staff no people skills, false promises, always looking to shift blame to someone, never take responsibility for their mistakes can't express how bad they are, they are like dealing with a 3 year old always argumentative even when they are in the wrong, asked for their complaint procedure took them 5 months to get back to me with it, they are horrible people from their manager to the staff, my partner went into the Crewe branch to get my post with my ID, they didn't only refuse to give her my post but were incredible rude, horrible person with no people skills full of lies trying to take advantage of someone that just trying to make a living.. if you are looking for a place to rent or to buy please AVOID you will be doing yourself a massive favor.

I wouldn't rent from Martin and co again, they left me with no heating and electricity with a child in the house and then when we complained they issued us with a section 21, a member of staff took it personally upon herself to make our lives a misery. This company shouldn't be allowed to operate.

If anyone is thinking of choosing Martin & Co, read this and decide for yourself. I have stayed at a number of places in UK. This is by far the worst experience ever, purely because of very poor standards, callous nature and abysmal attitude. Few examples to say why: 1. Move-in date postponed 1 day before the actual move-in date through a terse oneliner email. No phone call, no apologies. 2. Never received the actual signed tenancy agreement, inspite of repeated requests. 3. After moving in, realised that the cooker hood was not working, and the windows of the property were stuck shut. 4. These were never rectified, even after numerous calls and emails, and complain to the supposed MD as well. So, I ended up staying in an ill-ventilated, smoky and stuffy flat. For your own peace of mind, health and safety, I strongly recommend that you are better off away from these so called letting agents.
