I initially looked at a property in Nantwich through Martin and Co, where Jack McDermott showed me around and would be leading the renting negotiations and contract. Once a monthly price was agreed, I paid a holding fee with the intention of moving in. I handed in my notice and was ready to move in on a Monday. On that Friday, Jack emailed me and told me that I would be unable to rent the property. This gave me three days to sort somewhere before I was homeless, to which I rented a property that was already good to go from this company. When I was in the property, Martin and Co were relatively helpful with any issues I had, with Gina in the Crewe/Nantwich office being very helpful on several occasions. However, when we came to move out, the facts the company stated about the state the house was left in were highly inaccurate. This evidently was an attempt to gain the landlord my deposit, and therefore keep that landlord happy and on their books. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a battle through DPS for my deposit. I was fortunate to take photos and images to prove the condition the property was left in, however, this was a lot of unnecessary hassle and a blatant money grab. I would not recommend Martin and Co, and will not be a returning tenant, or purchasing a property off them in the future.

It's ridiculous my viewing was cancelled and another application was accepted before I could even look and apply for the property. Not the first time I've been screwed over with Martin and co. Ridiculous from an agency.
Very upset with the way we are being treated. It has been over 2 weeks since we were told a rental would not go through. Through no fault of our own, landlord is now selling the property. We were advised we would receive a full refund on the deposit we paid. Yet we are still waiting for this. We have called a couple times, to be advised someone would call us back. I don’t want a call back, I want the deposit back. I can not believe during a pandemic, where my partner is furloughed, the staff of Martin and co are dragging there feet like this. It’s a disgusting way to treat customers in any circumstance!
Since Martin & Co took over management of the property I was renting there was nothing but issues. There were a number of issues in the house which they never responded to or fixed and when chased they claimed it had already been done! At the end of my tenancy I left the house a month prior to the end date as I’d bought a new house. They waited until my keys were handed in to them for the rental property before billing me an obscene amount for an end of tenancy clean (which I’d already carried out) which had they have gotten their act together I could have sorted any issues they may have had prior to dropping the keys off. Not to mention they had shown people around the property and someone had to ‘take a leak’ and left the toilet soiled then attempted to blame myself for it! When they were contacted by phone to discuss the issues the phone was promptly put down when something was said they didn’t like. Absolutely dreadful experience with them. I would never wish the experience I have had with them on anyone so please do avoid them at all costs 🤯
