Tara & Vicki of the Lettings department perform their job to a high standard, and they are very nice people to deal withPositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value
I recently bought a house through Howard's and found them efficient and friendly - Rachel was always punctual for viewings, efficient at following up queries and fair in liaising between the parties. I also found the rest of the team helpful and friendly when Rachel wasn't available.
Not very good
Not a great experience with Howard Homes, mostly when moving in and out. I have recently finished letting with them in a central Bristol 1 bed apartment. Based on the other reviews, I think they tend to be decent on the house buying side and with landlords (understandable follow the letting fees ban) but less so for tenants. Pros - Quick response if there were any issues with maintenance. However, the contractors they use are fairly cheap and they have to come out multiple times, so you have the issue of "pay cheap, pay twice". - Generally decent when it comes to the day to day work and responsive over email. - In-person, the majority of the staff are nice and helpful. - The start of lettings process was straightforward and easy in sorting. Cons - Honor Magor. By far the rudest, most unemphatic person I have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with in 9 years of lettings. From day 1, she was extremely unhelpful dealing with moving in issues, was a nightmare during moving out, and was extremely patronising & rude throughout. - We wanted to break our contract early coming out of lockdown and they made the process as difficult as possible. It took 4 weeks to find new tenants, 2 weeks to advertise the property and they were generally slow to book in viewings to the point where we had to push them to find someone and, shockingly, they managed to find someone within 3 days of us pushing them. - Forced us to move out 7 days before the agreed tenancy date because of "coronavirus reasons" while still making us pay the rent. They said it was because the inventory people were not willing to do their work for 72h. This turned out to be a lie, and when we moved out on the 2nd, the inventory people showed up on the 3rd. This was also Honor's fault. - Generally, there is a lack of communication between staff members, which is odd considering they work in a small office. - As mentioned earlier, they don't use the best contractors, they tend to be very cheap and often have to come out multiple times before anything gets fixed. However, this is more an issue of Howard getting taken advantage of rather than us but it meant that issues took slightly longer than they really needed to. - Taking a random £100 out of the deposit for perfectly clean flat. I ask for an invoice and suddenly the cost is £60... - Generally using COVID as an excuse to provide awful service. I went to deliver the keys and seemed very normal to me.NegativeQuality, Professionalism, Value
Ideal agent if you want to spend 2 weeks on a waiting list to view a property and then for it to go without being told. 10/10 at being 0/10.
Not a letting agency, but a debt collectors!!!
Howard’s used our property information held previously by CJ Hole without permission and incorrectly advertised our property for sale when it wasn’t for sale. It now appears on searches that we tried to sell our property when in fact we didn’t. When we complained to Howard’s they didn’t seem overly concerned with the issue.
