I would strongly advise any one looking for propertys in Ashford to not use this company, they are appalling in customer service any issue you have they are passive aggressive with your concerns and hang up on you. I had an electrical fire fault with the shower in the property, which I was quickly prompted to calling the fire brigade out they quickly found the problem thankfully no one was injured and the building is still in good condition. The fire officer pointed out that the earth cable was incorrectly fitted by the installer which does not have any certificate or stamp on the back to show it was tested or signed off. I am still waiting 4 days now for a solution all I have been given is a electrical cert which doesn't state anything in relation to the shower being signed off and even if it did the developer is to blame, The terrible tradegy that happened in London in the Grenfall flats is a big investigation, seeing as this is a shared building also the diligence of the installer is extremely poor... all i seem to get "it is out of our hands" and get hung up on everytime i try to call martins I highly suggest all members get put on an advanced customer service course. As I feel they would benefit from this and would not get so many bad reviews on their Google listing.NegativeProfessionalism

Bradley – Safety is our absolute priority, indeed that is why I have engaged a member of staff that has worked exclusively for the past 12 months ensuring that our properties are electronically safe. In your case an electric shower failed. You could smell smoke and correctly called the fire brigade that made the appliance safe. When you reported the issue to us you told us that the fire officer had said that the apartment had been built without any earth protection. We were doubtful that this could be the case given that the property was approximately 3 years old and fully certificated however when you reported this, we contacted the developer the moment that their office re-opened after the weekend. They attended and carried out a full investigation and confirmed that the shower in question simply failed and that the property (and all appliances) were correctly earthed. This is one of several issues that you have flagged and that we have sort to deal with. You have complained that there is insufficient flow on both the showers in the property and yet the landlord had upgraded both on build to power showers. We will always strive to provide good outcomes for our customers however we are limited to what is practical (and possible). You have referred to an occasion where we terminated a call, we accept that sometimes the people that we deal with do not have an understanding of what is reasonable and choose to rant however we will not accept abuse.

Avoid - it has now been 4 months since a fence blew down on a property next door to my elderly parents house and it hasn't been replaced. Repeated calls and emails have got them nowhere, Martin & Co have just used the COVID situation as an excuse to not get the work done

Hello Ben We are genuinely sorry things have taken so long and yes we are aware that Covid 19 is being used for all kinds of excuses. In this particular case the landlord faces a large bill and therefore wanted to get several quotes as affordability wa… See more

Had nothing but problems with a property me and partner have rented. Damp everywhere rain leaking in the cavity's. All they done was paint over the issue and rent the house to use. Had to get environmental health officer involved to get any work done. Leave us without gas when we have small children in the house until engineer can fix it. Wouldn't recommend anyone renting from Martin & Co. I had to put one star bit they shouldn't have that either

You have had a problem with mould accumulation which we believed to be as a result of limited ventilation as it centred around the bathroom. We still believe this to be part of the reason however we also had the issue looked at by a contractor who diagnosed a problem with the concrete guttering a feature of many 1950’s built Ashford houses. This requires very costly replacement which the landlord has done and I would very much hope that the issue is now sorted. As to the gas issue, our contractor was carrying out a safety check and noticed that there was a very high reading for gas in the property and therefore had to turn the boiler off immediately whilst he found the leak. He was unable to do so and agreed to go back the following day which he did. The leak was fixed and heating and hot water was restored. We take our responsibility as managing agents very seriously and will not compromise on safety. We are not engineers or builders, we rely on contractors and are very careful to ensure that we use the best that we can find. When issues are reported we will look to instruct works as soon as we are able to do. In both the above instances we have sought to do this. I am not sure what else we, or indeed any other agent could do. Sometimes things break we cannot guarantee properties that are fault free in perpetuity, the important thing is that once issues are dealt with then they are sorted. This branch of Martin & Co are truly awful, they have lied and lied and lied over properties. I have all the emails as evidence if anyone wants to see then please ask. They don't answer your calls and give fake dates as to when the property is available. Awful seriously avoid so as your mental health is not affected. Rubbish

We accepted an instruction to market properties for a developer and were asked to market the properties in advance of completion based on their expectations. Unfortunately they were unable to deliver due to a number of setbacks. We communicated all updates that we received to applicants and were transparent throughout. We understand that this has caused some of our customers a lot of stress and we sincerely apologise for this. As a result we took the decision to remove the advertising and to only do so once each plot was completed.

Terrible, avoid at all costs. Emma Konstantinou is the rudest person I've spoken to and made the whole experience awful. She should be dismissed from this agent immediately. Edit: This review is not related to your response so I'm afraid you have the wrong person. I know nothing of a carpet at £1,700. This is a complaint against one of your employees and how they dealt with us. I suggest you review your employees and author identification process. Thanks for also confirming multiple people have problems with you and it wasn't just me!

As the name used in the review does not correlate it was not easy to identify who wrote this review however I am now aware of the author. You complained about the “hardness” of the carpets which the landlord agreed to replace (at a cost of £1,700) and on the evening before the contractor was due to fit them you cancelled and you have not contacted us since to rearrange. You reported an issue with the oven and hob on a Sunday and we had an electrician instructed to come to you the next day. Unfortunately (and outside our control) he could not attend and therefore we instructed a second electrician that met you at the property on Wednesday. He could not diagnose the issue and so we instructed an appliance engineer to contact you the same day. He has told us that you could not make yourself available until the following Monday. He went to the property as arranged and fixed the issue – a new element. Whilst the second issue was ongoing you called the office and screamed at my team. I understand that you were frustrated however I am not sure how you expect to achieve anything by being so disrespectful. We are more than happy to help. Good tenants are a pleasure to accommodate so why would we do anything to ruin a relationship. When people shout and swear at my team I am more than happy for them to terminate the call, why should they have to tolerate such behaviour? If that means we are rude then so be it. It is a shame that we cannot leave reviews on tenants. We act and are paid by the landlord. Notwithstanding this we have a duty of care to tenants and we will always go the extra mile to try to help. However sometimes tenants can look to avoid their obligations and will often blame agents or landlords to get their own way. Sometimes we have to point out to tenants that we cannot simply acquiesce to requests that either we have no power to decide or that Kevin Hall Director – Martin & Co (Ashford)

Where to start, the staff in the Ashford lettings branch are disgraceful, Nicola Rosindell the branch manager was extremely rude, she lied to me, told me to 'google it as I'm capable' when I asked for her managers number and even hung the phone up on me. I spoke to Kevin Hall the director who went on to say "sorry our phones aren't recorded so theres nothing I can do". When I told Kevin I was going to post my experience with Martin and Co online he then text me saying he wouldn't pay my deposit back If i did this. (I still have the text claiming this) Avoid this estate agent at ALL costs.
