Northwood Aberdeen have managed our flat in Aberdeen for 4 years or so now and have always acted with great professionalism and integrity. Due to the current market conditions our Guaranteed Rent Agreement renewal was due to reduce significantly. I was provided with the information I requested, to weigh up our options, and more. In addition, when I uncovered a past oversight by both parties, which had led to us receiving less income in a previous year than intended, Northwood Aberdeen corrected the error and paid the money due without us even requesting it. Primarily, as a result of this and the service we have always received from Northwood Aberdeen we have renewed the Guaranteed Rent Agreement for another year (despite the income being significantly reduced).

I met Laura Mearns at a business event in Aberdeen recently and in conversation (when I was sighing about how much renting was costing me) she gave me some excellent advice. It had never occurred to me that I was in a negotiating position with my landlord - I had just been so happy to have a great house in a superb location I had paid only a bit less than the asking price. However, with Laura's many years of experience she was able to advise me on the correct wording to write to the landlord to ask for a reasonable decrease on the rent for my rental extension, to reflect current market conditions and my willingness to rent long term. I am delighted to report that they thought my request reasonable and we saved £200 per month!
