Homyze fitted a pressure release valve to the combi boiler at my flat in N1. They charged me £480. They are complete rip off merchants. I have told my property management company never to use them again. EDIT: See Homyze has replied implying that I just did not want to pay so much for an emergency call out job. Paying for something is not the issue, being totally ripped off for what was done is the issue. After I queried the bill you sent me a break down which included 45 minutes to drain the boiler and 45 minutes to refill it. That is ridiculous. I called a number of other plumbers for quotes after I got your bill and they all said £100-150 to supply and fit a pressure valve. It is unfortunate that Hostmaker used you without speaking to me first as I would never have agreed to such a nonsense price. Hopefully this review will make you and the particular plumber think twice about putting in such a rip off bill to other clients.

Hi Gareth, thanks so much for providing feedback. We are very sorry that the cost incurred was more than you feel is appropriate. As I’m sure you were told, unfortunately this was done outside of our normal hours (0800 - 1900 Monday to Friday) and therefore the appropriate rate was £151.20 per hour including VAT. We believe this compares very favourably with our competitors. We do of course always advise our customers of this higher rate and only charge for the time spent working but often the decision is made to go ahead in order to keep guests or tenants happy and in place. In order to: diagnose the issue, drain the system, buy the part, fit the part, re-fill the system and check the system was functioning correctly took 2 hours and 44 minutes. Again, I’m very sorry that the cost seemed excessive but hope that your guests are happy with the speed with which you as their landlord responded and that they were therefore able to stay in the property not causing you to lose and revenue or provide compensation.

Terrible experience, was charged for 89 minutes when the guy was there for less than 5. Nothing was done, no follow up call. Awful

Hi Mariza - thanks for taking the time to write this message and I’m sorry that you feel let down by us. We were called out for a fix that was not possible once we arrived on site but that is not true that you were charged for 89 minutes - it was just over our minimum callout of 1 hour. The report from our engineer was as follows: Due to the size of the glass this job will require 2 handymen. The two plastic pads on the bottom of the glass should not be installed. The bottom tiles within the the shower have previously been painted. The paint will need to be scraped off and silicone between tiles and shower tray. The two big glasses will need to come out and be re-installed correctly. This was all sent to you in your job report. I’m sorry that we did not provide a quote for the required works immediately thereafter - this is our standard practice and was an oversight. We would be happy to offer you a discount for this oversight if we can help in any other way.

Booked a job days in advance. Just to be called the day before at 8pm to tell me they cancelled and can’t find anyone. Not reliable.

An absolute rip off - plumber £151 per hour on a Saturday afternoon, damaged our property and the staff still tried to overcharge

Do not believe any of the positive reviews for Homyze unless you also believe in extraordinary coincidences. Several reviews have been written by people with exactly the same name as Homyze founders and employees Adam Edgell-Bush, Andrew …

Awful and beyond belief

I had the misfortune of renting a place from Seymours in Woking. From the start it was a traumatic experience. There was damp and mould all over the place and required me to spend an extra 3 days before I could move in. I made a complaint about some items such as loose carpet on the stairs almost 6 months ago and still haven't had any hint of a resolution. The previous tenants had the money deducted from their deposit quickly enough though. I can't wait to move out; the stress of moving again in just 12 months is far less than the stress of dealing with Seymours.Their electrician touched the live cables together when changing a socket and blew out the fuses and damaged computer equipment. The heating didn't work and I had to fix it myself. Both sinks were leaking.Mould in every room.Blocked drains.Etc etc. the list goes on.
