We recently sold our house through Abbey Properties, and we were really happy with the way that Mervyn and his team supported us throughout the process. For us, some of the key points were: Mervyn is very relaxed and calm. He is not pushy, he is very knowledgeable about the area, he is responsive, and he provides sound advice. Mervyn is NOT one of the glib, fast-talking, 'shiny suit' estate agents that you are confronted with far too often. He is a genuine and thoughtful person. He is realistic on price. Many estate agents will give an inflated estimate of the value of a property in order to win the mandate - they will then ask you to drop the price a month or so later. Abbey Properties does not do that. Their price estimate is based on a solid understanding of the market, and it genuinely reflects the current market value. Preparation of the photos, video and property description was smooth and rapid. We had an opportunity to review the listing before it was published, and our comments were taken fully into account. We had as much notice as possible for viewings, and they were handled by Mervyn and his team without any problems. We had prompt and useful feedback after each viewing. Communication from everyone at Abbey Properties was also clear, polite and timely. Mervyn managed to create a great deal of interest in our property - and lots of viewings - in a very difficult market context. The Abbey Properties team worked tirelessly and calmly to promote our property, resulting in several potential buyers making an offer. Mervyn and the team handled negotiations with prospective buyers with great professionalism, keeping us fully informed at each stage. We (3 brothers) recently sold an inherited property in Eynsham. The property was not a standard package comprising 2 semi cottages in a big garden on one title - and none of us lived locally. We engaged and got excellent local advice from Mervyn Harris at Abbey Properties. We had problems with an outgoing tenant and rubbish left behind and Mervyn was a fantastic help - finding local people to help us clear and clean the property and protect the pipes over winter. He found an early sale at the recommended price only for the mortgage market to collapse leaving the buyer without the loan they needed. He then worked hard in a challenging market to find another buyer who successfully completed the purchase. The combination of local knowledge and excellent thoughtful service means that we cannot recommend Abbey Properties enough to future sellers.
