This is the worst letting agent I've ever encountered! They manipulate communication between the landlord and tenants, creating confusion. They intentionally lie to both parties, causing problems and deliberately harming the landlord's interests. They even allow tenants to prematurely terminate contracts without the landlord's consent. When we complained to their management team, it was utterly unhelpful. It appears that this behavior is part of Breckon & Breckon's company culture. We were left with no choice but to file a formal complaint with the property ombudsman, resulting in Breckon & Breckon being fined for their wrongdoing.

For anyone wishing to rent with Breckon and Breckon - I would strongly encourage you to take videos/photos of your entire property before you move in. Even places that you wouldn’t think of - ie. door frames, inside cupboards, any tiny little mark, EVERYTHING! Breckon and Breckon tried to take our deposit for marks that were already there in check in but claimed they would have been picked up by the company that do the inventory (I proved this wasn’t true) and charged ridiculous amounts of money for the marks which I know they will do nothing about given the state of the place when we moved in from the previous tenant.

Wildly unhelpful, wouldn’t ever rent from them again.

Do not do business with these people. Untrustworthy, sleazy and disrespectful. If I could, I’d give 0 stars. We were looking for our first home. We found a lovely cottage but after placing an offer, we got that rejected. We moved on and continued with our search. It was a month later when they contacted us again, saying that the other buyer was “crazy and unreliable”. They would call you late Friday afternoon and would refuse to write anything down in an email. Non-the-less, we looked through the poor communication and unprofessional behaviour, as we wanted the house. Little did we know, that the vendor will soon also be called “crazy and unreliable”. Despite twice daily calls for three weeks straight, we felt that we were the middle man between the agent and vendor plus the estate agent’s psychotherapist. Eventually, we had to pull out of the purchase as frankly we got fed up with such treatment. I know there are some positive reviews here, but you wonder what these people are saying about you behind your back.

Mike mentioned £130 for move out. I just add that they charge £240 for move in. Indeed, modern day pirates. Also, they show no concern or sympathy to students. If you're intl student or manual worker or single parent, even worse. If you're vulnerable or ignorant of rent market rules, it's your fault, not theirs. Best properties always go to those privileged and those who have first-hand info. They don't care about your being desperate to find a new home.
