Rented a property with them. When we moved in the house was a complete disaster and we would be able to give only 1 star as review, but with time they managed to build our trust back and didn't fail us ever since, hence the 4 stars.
Rented a property through Breckon for the past year. Generally a positive experience overall. Callum Hunt has been especially great - professional, friendly and caring (5 stars individually for him). For Brekcon as a whole, 4 stars as a solid service but sometimes quite slow at resolving maintenance issues and issues around inventory at the start of the year. Nonetheless, far better than any other Estate Agents I have used in Oxford.
Very good service. Moving between flats (which they both manage) went smoothly.
Everyone is always going to be very nice and polite with you. They take a long time to reply to your emails but always end up being helpful, just expect delays when dealing with them. Stuff will be in the property that is not in the inventory when you move in, make sure you don’t leave it there or you’ll be charged for it when you leave.
All in all I've had a rather unsatisfactory experience with Breckon & Breckon in Summertown, Oxford. Their communication was poor, often requiring multiple follow-ups to get any response or action. Maintenance issues were neglected, causing unnecessary stress. For example, fire alarms left unchecked a long time past their certified date. Upon moving out, we faced unjust charges deducted from our deposit, having to go through the stress of countering them. We were left at their whim, and as tenants we found they will not work with you, you will feel like you are nothing but a means to an income for them. We were made to feel small and powerless, and I strongly advise future tenants who are going with Breckon to document everything meticulously, keep a paper trail, and ensure all agreements are clearly stated in writing, with nothing left implicit. Phone calls are discouraged. Being out of the absolute state the rental sector is in has been an absolute blessing.
At first they seemed nice and trustworthy. The process was quick and painless and they seemed quick to reply and offer their support. But after 6 months of me living in the property they are still failing to fix issues that I had raised even before entering the property. I don't know if they are incompetent or extremely inefficient.
Appalling. I own a property at Woodstock Close which is managed by Breckon & Breckon. Since they took over as property managers, service charges have gone THROUGH THE ROOF. They show no respect towards leaseholders, ignore communications, and treat us with arrogance bordering on contempt. There are so many issues with this company - from them claiming to seek the most competitive prices for works and simultaneously charging 15% commission on all major contracts, to their abject failure to monitor regular contractors such as the cleaner, leading to contractors billing without performing works - a problem which persisted unchecked for over a year. Breckon & Breckon have no regard for leaseholders, they don't care how our money is spent, they don't care about offering a professional service and they ignore highlighted issues and emails from leaseholders. All they care about is charging as much as they can and making the maximum amount of money for themselves, at the utter expense of leaseholders' financial welfare and mental health. I am in the process of gathering all evidence to make a formal complaint about this company to the Property Ombudsman and likely tribunal. I will also consider taking my story to the press as B&B's contempt for residents and good practice is nothing short of scandalous. They need scrutiny, and soon. * additional comment - the fact that Breckon & Breckon attempt to gaslight my feedback on their appalling management practices by suggesting I am bitter about my sale collapsing and that I "blame" them is completely inappropriate and immature and says everything anyone needs to know about this company and its conduct. My review did not even mention my sale, which is personal information. My sale did fail as the seller pulled out due to service charges making the property unmortgageable. But to dismiss my legitimate concerns by making innappropriate volatile personal comments is utterly unacceptable. Leaseholders wishing to sell are struggling due to the charges and properties at the Close are not selling and sitting on the market. But only the Ombudsman/law would ever make this Breckon & Breckon reflect on its conduct. The real life observable impact of its management has zero impact on its operations. I am preparing a complaint for the Property Ombudsman and Tribunal. This company ignores ALL communications with me, and the feelings of the chair of the WCLA (an unofficial group I am not legally obliged to be part of or engage with) is absolutely not a reflection of many leaseholders who are extremely unhappy about Breckon & Breckon's conduct and are not being listened to by the WCLA or Breckon & Breckon. The conduct of this company is deeply ill-advised and unrofessional and it will be answerable to the Ombudsman and the law. And likely the press. Shocking.
We had a deeply frustrating experience with this agency. The property was advertised with a move-in date of 30th July, which was then pushed back multiple times without clear explanation. We arranged a van and cancelled a holiday based on … More
I do not rent my apartment through B&B, but the building is managed by them. Communication is extremely poor and even rude at times, with scheduled repairs being changed at the last minute, sometimes without any warning at all. Critical repairs take weeks, if not months, with no consideration for those with disabilities or children. I genuinely become anxious at the thought of having to contact this management team. Clearly, they haven’t taken on board any of the previous feedback written here or provided elsewhere. I was a building owner or landlord, I would avoid at all costs.
