I would like to thank Parkers for all the help they have given me over the years. I bought my house in 2001 from them and after I moved away from Reading they managed the letting for me for the last three years. I have had no problems and even with selling the house it has been very straight forward. Thanks again, Tom
Overall good estate agent. I would reccomend to new landlords/investors since they will advise you in advance of any risks and try to get the best for your money.
Overall Parkers were pretty good at both selling our property and helping us to find a property in a very active market. I think they could have listened to us more particularly when it came to doing viewings of our property which, at times, was inconvenient. They held viewings on an ad hoc basis and it would have suited us better if the viewings had been in a block due to our circumstances. The set up made the viewings quite stressful. They did, however, keep us informed regularly of the progress of our sale and purchase. The sale and purchase were both done through Parkers which also made it more convenient. Confusion did occur, however, with a number of different staff members looking after our account. This meant that we didn't have one point of contact, although Parkers do state in their terms that you will be assigned one sales agent who will look after your account. This didn't occur in our case and muddled information was, at times, passed onto us as a result. It became apparent that our file had not always been kept updated. The process of selling and buying was also much longer than initially anticipated although I don't think that Parkers were 100% at fault because of this as so much is involved in the process and, as I said before, the market was particularly busy during the time that we sold and purchased. I think that certain sales staff let the pressure of the job show through at times, as, when speaking to them on the phone, certain sales staff did come across as abrupt and verging on being a bit discourteous. This is something which needs to be worked on. There were a few errors made as well. I believe that this is because Parkers are a smaller concern and only have a small sales team who were finding the busier marketplace somewhat challenging. This information was relayed to me and I'm not sure that this is something which should have been passed onto a client. Overall, despite my criticisms, I think that Parkers are one of the better estate agents in Reading and I'm happy that they achieved both the sale and purchase of my property to my satisfaction. I purchased my current property from them 19 years ago and have now sold and am buying my current property from them and I would consider using them again in the future if the need arises.
Great team in the Renting department. Any problems that cropped up they sorted. Fees are very high and almost put me off. Hopefully long term they will be worth it.
Hi Damien, Amy, We formally completed our purchase yesterday and got our keys. Tons of Thanks to you and your team for really really quick & hassle-free processing. With your responsive chasing-up and friendly approach, we were able to complete the purchase quickly even though the seller was unwell for more than a month. I really loved working with you and would like to continue our relation for my future purchases as well( BTL - with in Months :) ) We owe our smiles when we opened doors to our First home to your professionalism. Thanks you very much,
My first viewing was fine. But for the second viewing, I arrived on time for a scheduled viewing but was left waiting outside the building for 15 minutes. Called the office three times and I was only told they would be with me shortly. They also didn’t answer the doorbell even though they were already inside the property.
As a buyer last year with Parkers we had a mixed experience, and wouldn't trust them in the future (as buyers or sellers). The initial contact with the sales team was great, very helpful to arrange the viewings and clear/quick best offer process. But things went downhill once our offer was accepted and we moved to the negotiation team. Poor communication about how things were progressing with the sellers, and absolutely nothing happened over the 2 months summer holiday when they knew our MIP was expiring early October. This was at the time when interest rates were rapidly increasing, and we told Parkers with months notice that should we lose our mortgage offer, we would have to lower our offer on the house. They were very dismissive, arguing that the housing market was doing very well, was still a seller market despite the skyrocketing interest rates, and that the sellers wouldn't accept our lower offer. In the end the top of the chain pulled out because things were so slow, our lower offer was rejected immediately (they laughed at us on the phone) so we pulled out and found another house 2 days later. Parkers called us a few days later to say the sellers would consider dropping 20k on the price, which we rejected since we had already found something else. They did manage to sell but completed more than a year (!) after we completed our own purchase. They dropped the price twice, probably selling 25-50k under our initial offer. We can understand the sellers choice, but really Parkers attitude was ridiculous. It was obvious that all buyers were going to be affected by the mortgage rates increase, and their advice to the sellers were really poor.
I recently rented a property managed by Parkers. I would recommend Parkers. The entire process was hassle free and always I felt being given the best service. I hope this stays the same throughout the tenancy. Brilliant estate agents.
