As an agent in UK, we are required by law to pass on every offer we receive to the seller at any stage, even where an offer has been accepted, so we couldn’t withhold a later offer once it came in. To clarify, we didn’t invite or encourage a bidding situation, the additional offer came from a party who had already viewed previously; we then followed the correct process by reporting it to the owner. The seller ultimately made the final decision on how they wanted to proceed, and we acted strictly in line with their instructions and our legal obligations throughout. We do genuinely value your interest and would welcome the chance to help you secure another suitable home in the area, while being as clear as possible about the process from the outset.
