I've had numerous issues with Whitegates estate agents, including excessive fees, unprofessional conduct, and a lack of transparency. While landlords and property buyers seem to receive excellent treatment, tenants are met with a completely different standard of service. According to Citizens Advice, Whitegates has the highest number of complaints compared to other estate agents, which further highlights the challenges tenants face. I'm currently in the process of thinking of reporting them to the redress scheme and know of others doing the same. Tenants should be extremely cautious. Anticipating Whitegates' usual response—an elaborate attempt to justify themselves and twist the situation to sound blameless. Save your breath, Whitegates—tenants can see right through the excuses. Tenants, be aware of these tactics!"

Right, listen up! If you're even thinking about using Whitegates letting agents in Huddersfield, do yourself a massive favour and RUN. Don't walk, run in the opposite direction! These people are beyond a joke. Rude? Absolutely. Unprofessional? You bet. And the biggest time wasters I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Honestly, I'm kicking myself for not seeing the reviews before I even bothered picking up the phone. I was looking to let a property, something you'd think a letting agent would be interested in, wouldn't you? Apparently not these clowns. I chased them and chased them, and after what felt like an eternity of silence and dodging, they finally got back to me with a flat-out "no." No explanation, no courtesy, just a blunt, dismissive "no." Are you serious?! What kind of way is that to run a business? They wasted my precious time, got my hopes up for nothing, and couldn't even be bothered to give a reason. It's beyond infuriating. Take my advice, and the advice of what I should have read in the first place – steer clear of Whitegates in Huddersfield. They are a complete and utter waste of time and energy. You'll find better service and more respect from a brick wall. Seriously, avoid them like the plague!

Please know that we carefully review all applications but ultimately it is the Landlords decision in terms of how they decide to proceed and we can never provide an answer until a Landlord makes a decision and unfortunately, we can only move forward on the landlords say so. We recently went to the Huddersfield office and didn't expect this experience. I along with my friend went there to let a house as we are students. We stood in the front area hoping someone would come but no one did as we saw many of them were free. We went near the desk and literally saw them ignoring us. Don't know the reason why. But had the worst experience and we soon came out of there.

The worst unprofessional letting agent I've ever seen. Don't waste your valuable time with them. Look elsewhere.

Poor overall experience trying to sell my property with Whitegates over the course of 6 months. Started off well when initially instructing to sell, but once passed over to another colleague in the sales team everything went downhill. Inadequate communication, various attempts to call the person handling my property who never called back the same day resulting in me chasing, some viewings didn’t go through as the person conducting viewings “couldn’t unlock the door”, rejected a potential offer without consulting me first as it was below asking price... just a complete waste of time. Happily paid a £250 fee to be able to go with a much more proactive, professional, and friendly estate agent, who have garnered more interest and offers than Whitegates in just 3 days, with speedy and effective communication via phone and email. Wish I never signed with Whitegates!

In regards to the offer below the asking price, we want to clarify that the buyer ultimately decided to withdraw their offer the very next day after it was submitted. They informed us that they had chosen to pursue a different property. In addition, they did not provide the necessary proof of funds, which, in line with our policy, meant they were not financially verified. We always ensure that all potential buyers are financially checked before we proceed with any offers, as this is a key part of our process to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients. We were also informed that you planned to carry out some renovations on the property, which led to the decision to withdraw it from the market temporarily. However, we were surprised to later find out that you had decided to proceed with another estate agent instead, especially as we had not had a prior discussion indicating that you were considering leaving us. We had been under the impression that you would potentially return to market with us once the renovations were complete. As outlined in our terms and conditions, we do apply a withdrawal fee in these cases, as we had dedicated considerable time, resources, and effort to managing the sale of your property. We understand that situations can change, but we always aim to act in the best interest of our clients, and we were prepared to continue supporting you through the process, whether or not the property was to be renovated. We fully understand how frustrating this situation has been, and we truly regret that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. We take all feedback seriously and are committed to learning from it to improve our processes. We will be reviewing our communication procedures internally to ensure we provide better and more consistent service in the future. Very hard to get hold of, you send them an email, they either ignore it or it takes nearly a month before they reply, especially with the contents that are in the email, for example if I'm writing to them to sort out repairs for instance they are definitely going to ignore you, they don't update you on anything, they have been told to contact myself instead of my father whos busy all the time, they have ignored that and carry on bothering my father, we have recently arranged for repairs to be sorted, they missed out a few repairs or plan on doing a quick 'cover up' I have been in my property since oct 2021 and it has been awful having whitegates manage this property, I havent been the only tenant in this property to complain. Tracy is very excellent though 👏 👌

Disgusting agency, definitely not recommend, they leave you on read for days, really poor customer service, I’ve had leaks and mold in the house and they never fixed it, they threaten you if you are late 1 day with your rent.

Moved out of the property over 4 weeks ago now, no update on deposit. Never known anything like it in years before renting privately.
