Some of the details of the house were incorrect, in the brochure
Wouldn’t recommend. Initially our viewing with Matthew the branch manager was very good. Lovely knowledgeable person and a shame he has left. However this is where the “so called family business” we feel started to let us down. The conveyancing is dealt with at a Monmouth branch and although Catherine was very good, it is not the same as being able to communicate with the local branch who sold us the property. The most disappointing thing was on the day of our completion the Archer offices closed at lunchtime for an in house event. We had no way of contacting them as their phone lines were going through to Countrywide. They had the audacity to ask the agents (Richard Butler) who we had sold through to hand us the keys to the property we were purchasing from them and even at 12 midday on the day of completion, Richard Butler had still not received the keys from Archers but thanks to their perseverance the keys were finally taken round to be past on to us. 1. It is not the responsibility of another agent to hand over keys to a property you sold. 2. It is disgraceful that when you are taking thousands of pounds from someone, you feel this is an acceptable way of doing business. 3. I honestly cannot believe you label yourselves as “family run” the service we experienced did not represent such. 4. Closing entire branches on Friday afternoons without anyway of contacting staff does not put customers who are completing purchases first. In fact it compounds the stress. We are just grateful we weren’t the ones paying you the £10,000 + in fees.
I’d like you to thank Willow for her support over the last few months for a purchase that was far from smooth. Willow certainly went the extra mile and kept us informed at all times, providing guidance and advice where appropriate. An …
Daisy came out to view our home last week Thursday to value it and to discuss the selling process, after no more than a quick look round she explained that we would receive an email later that day with all the information required to make a decision about using them to sell our home. It has now been a week and we have received nothing! Daisy not only came across as unprofessional on the day but has just proved it further we will not be using Archer & Co to sell our home or for the purchase of a new home.
Awful estate agents! We had an offer accepted on a property Archers (Daisy) were selling and had started the process and paid the solicitors fees. Archers didn’t put it as sold on the website as agreed when the sellers accepted the offer and they let other buyers view the property and effectively ‘gazump’ us after telling us that we wouldn’t be messed around by the vendors. After speaking with other estate agents for advice, they agreed this is appalling behaviour! In response to your reply as I can’t reply and yours is complete fiction - that’s not how it was explained at all. They accepted our offer - I have this in writing, there was never any mention of giving us time to be proceedable and our house had been on the market a matter of days. Why would anyone make an offer and pay solicitors if they knew there was a chance someone else could outbid you. They didn’t have to accept our offer if they were not happy that our house wasn’t yet sold. Yes luckily the solicitors are decent and have agreed to refund us through us chasing. I understand that gazumping isn’t illegal but it is unethical. You even advised my husband yesterday that if we were to sell our house we could try and gazump the new buyers - not great practice or advice is it!
I hope no one else has to live next door to a property managed by Ashton's. Total disregard for covid rules and noise. Utterly miserable year living next to disrespectful tenants and no support from Ashton's. Think carefully before picking your agent. No surprise that there's not a single Ashton's board in our village, people talk!
Always thought Ashtons was the best of Estate agents !! As have been with a few .. but their choice of landlord is not acceptable, they should only take on properties that are fully checked and have EICR certificates ???? Well I can assure you mine has not !! It was all done privately by the landlord and his friends !! After having electricians around to fix the completely live back splash in the kitchen and the metal light switches around the house !! And the bare wires hanging out of an old socket in my 8 year olds bedroom AND the normal extension cable drilled through the ceiling of the BATHROOM!! you question what checks where Put in place if any ?? Now all I ask is him to fix a dishwasher with nothing for 3 months !!!!! Ashtons has gone right to the bottom for me I have never had this level of non existent response and failure to do anything about anything!!!!!
