The team at Simpson and Marwick who helped us on our house purchase were great. Richard Loudon led the team and was incredibly responsive, especially when any issues arose. He was also very clear as to which member of the team we would expect to interact with at each stage. This was not the easiest transaction given it spanned the start of covid lockdown and initially had to be postponed but we received sound advice and support throughout. Bobby Fife was meticulous in anticipating the various legal hoops we would need to jump through and getting the required paperwork in order to comply with all relevant regulations. Carolyn Jones was also brilliant in helping with the key final stages, dealing with them quickly and professionally. Good law firm

(While the company did finally provide compensation, it's important to note that I still experienced a significant opportunity cost as a result of their actions.) It has undeniably been the most regrettable experience of my lifetime, dealing with a solicitor team that exhibited a severe lack of professionalism and courtesy. Initially, I placed my trust in them based on their positive Google reviews, which now appear to be misleading and have led to significant frustration and inconvenience on my part. The solicitor in question was Shari, who astonishingly took a full year to complete the anti-money laundering check, despite my having submitted all required documents promptly. To compound matters, she repeatedly requested the same information, leading to redundant submissions. Regrettably, she ceased all communication, failing to respond to both my emails and those from the seller's side. My attempts to reach her went unanswered for two months until she seemingly disappeared without a trace. I was dismayed to find myself in such a predicament. In desperation, I enlisted the assistance of the estate agent, who contacted Joni, the National Head of Conveyancing. However, this interaction proved to be equally disheartening, as Joni not only displayed a lack of professionalism but also declined to provide any insight into the unilateral breach of contract, responding in a profane manner. I strongly advise against engaging with this company. As a result of their inefficiency, my funds remained in limbo within my bank account, as I had initially believed they could promptly resolve their business matters. Consequently, I have incurred substantial financial losses due to the failure of Simpson & Marwick to deliver on their commitments.

I booked a viewing for a flat, and the agent confirmed the date and time. However, when my friends and I arrived (on time, in the freezing wind), the agent never showed up. We waited for over half an hour with no communication from them. This level of irresponsibility is completely unacceptable! It's no surprise that the flat has been on the market for over nine months—clearly, the agent's poor service is to blame. I would never consider buying a property through them, and I strongly advise against using them to sell your property if you want results. Avoid this agency at all costs!

In general estate agents do not add any value whatsoever - they really only put adds on websites (which outrageously private persons cannot, at least not on the main sites) and take phone calls. Simpson & Marwick managed to do both badly.

Awful experience from start to end, I am still not entirely convinced that they weren't being paid by the sellers. It would explain a lot.
