Review from Joe Hawthorne and Maria Del Carmen Lopez Perez: We are both really glad that we decided to choose to rent a property with CJ Hole! We had seen properties from other agencies and the agents hadn´t taken much notice of the questions and concerns we were raising. They also didn´t really take the time to explain how their agency procedure worked to us, mostly they said that we had to pay the holding fee quickly as the property would go within a day. As it was our first non shared house and we were investing our savings we were a little caucious. However, when we met with a CJ hole agent called sarah to see our now current flat, she was so friendly and reasuring, and took the time to explain how everything worked, and that she felt confident that we were the right people for the flat. It made all the difference. Once we began the process of securing the flat we had loads of help from an agent called Izzy, she helped us with our references, our guarantor details and passing information onto our landlord. The references can take a little while, which can be frustrating and sometimes the referencing company would need more information or a document but izzy always helped us work out a solution, never left us in the dark about our progress, and was always helpful. Ultimately we got the flat we really wanted, and CJ Hole made the process as easy and stressfree as moving can be. We would both recommend them to anyone in the area looking to rent or buy.

Lettings and Management

I have various properties with CJ Hole and Rafal who deals with the Management of them has been extremely invaluable since he joined. I now am confident that any issues are raised quickly and he keeps me informed at all times and follows up once any maintenance has been undertaken. A much improved relationship and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you

We are in the process of renting a student property and CJ Hole representative Frankie Bath (our estate agent) has been particularly helpful in explaining the details to us and the process of renting (as it's our first time). She's been very friendly and polite and exceptionally helpful. However, at the beginning of our enquiries into the student house we were disappointed by the level of service we had on the phone - unlike Frankie, the full details of the terms of rental were not fully disclosed (something that should be essential for first time renters/buyers - especially students) and when questioning the terms (to be specific the joint and severally liable tenancy contract) the person on the phone was very rude and defensive and threatened us with terminating going ahead with the agreement. It doesn't need to be said we were within our rights to question the term and for our guarantors to be concerned at the lack of transparency and communication from CJ Hole. However, since the initial hiccup we have been more than impressed with CJ Hole and Frankie. Perhaps just worth noting that students are still customers of your agency and should be treated with the same level of respect as other customers (especially as we all pay the same agency fees).

Had a good experience initially renting through CJ Hole, however at the end of my tenancy they were very unreasonable regarding deductions from my deposit. Despite cleaning the house to a reasonable standard, they were adamant that they wanted to make large deductions from my deposit. They score each rooms cleanliness out of 5, 5 being the worst possible score. They gave one room a 4 because of 'heavy dust on window', one room a 3 because of 'light dust on skirting'. To recieve the second lowest score in my opinion, the room would have to be similar to a squat. They proceeded to deduct almost £400 from my deposit for the cleaning of the house, so they are either being conned by their cleaner, or I have been conned by them. They also deducted £15 to replace 2 lightbulbs. I managed to get the overall deductions down by £120 so it is definitely worth arguing with them, however I have just had a baby so ran out of energy and regretfully let them take the rest out of my deposit. Overall I would say if you have an option, they're best avoided, bunch of crooks looking to rob your deposit.

As a buyer I was made to feel

As a buyer I was made to feel stupid and patronized when making my offer with agent even a saying “I know what they will say to that” when I offered 2,500 less than he had been pushing me for. I know as someone who is selling property that you want the agent to keep all buyers happy in the process - if you do want that for your house don't choose CJ Hole Bishopston
