Director was helpful but Lettings manager lacked empathy and responsiveness. Totally failed to grasp urgency of situation. Not helpful attitude.

Dear CFO, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I must be honest though and state that for the record, I do not recognise your user name, nor do I employ a member of staff in the role of "Lettings Manager", nor have we received any complaints in branch. I have discussed your comments with all members of my team, none of whom can fathom who you are or what may have resulted in you leaving a 1 star review. There are over 200 individually operated Martin & Co Franchises up and down the country and so perhaps your review was aimed at another branch? At Martin & Co Aldershot we are frequently complimented for our responsiveness and I believe that all of our team care deeply about delivering an empathetic service whilst being sympathetic to each customer’s varying, individual circumstances. As I don't recognise your comments, I would love to have the opportunity to discuss them with you personally. If in fact they do relate to dealings with my branch then, of course, they will be taken seriously. We are proud of our exemplary reputation (and online reviews) and work hard to consistently deliver a level of service that exceeds expectations and set the benchmark within our industry. If it transpires that we have in fact disappointed you in any way then, it goes without saying, we will take your comments on board fully and learn from them so that the experience you have encountered is never repeated. Kind Regards, James Wiggins Director Martin & Co Aldershot 01252 311974 james.wiggins@martinco.com

Took the 550 holding fee. Told us we were getting the property, that we had passed all the checks and we were making more than what they requested. That they would contact us the next day so we could arrange a time to sign all the paper work. But the next day it was a different story. Was told we didn't pass the checks and didn't make enough, even though we were making 6k more than what they required. Felt absolutely robbed. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Dear Ms Chan, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I can see that you did make an application for a lettings property at the beginning of August 2017. There are several inaccuracies in your recollection of events... 1) You were not charged £550. 2) We, as a business do not charge a "holding fee". 3) We would not furnish you with a contract to sign without a completed "Acceptable" reference application. It would rarely be the next day. 4) You were not told that you had "passed all checks". 5) The move in process was explained to you in writing and by signing Terms of Business you did enter into a contractual agreement with Martin & Co. 6) Your reference application was indeed "Declined". I can tell you that this was not as a result of your earnings, as you know. We have to be careful what information is put into the public domain, or indeed passed on to you entirely. This is in order to protect the referees who provide references “in confidence". 7) It was the landlords decision not to grant you a tenancy. This decision was entirely based upon detrimental facts un-earthed by your referencing application. There are very few landlords who would be willing to proceed with tenancy based upon a declined application such as yours. Despite the time that has passed I would be happy to discuss this with you further, either in person, or via telephone or email. This, (in my opinion) would be a more appropriate method of communication than a public forum such as this. Kind Regards, James Wiggins Director Martin & Co (Aldershot)

Do not use these agents.. They think it's acceptable to evict young children with the most pathetic reason possible. Avoid like the plague!!!
