I rang and asked to view a property after pleasant man left a voice mail from my enquiry saying he needed some more details and he would get me booked in to view. When I rang I was put through to a woman. She straight away asked if my house was sold and I started my house is on the market and we have offers but that we didn’t want to accept until we had viewed some property’s. I was told that I could not view until I had ‘accepted an offer’. I was also asked if I was a mortgage buyer which I said yes and was asked if I had a mortgage in principle. I stated that I had been to see a mortgage broker and know what I could afford and the woman on the phone who was particularly rude throughout the phone call said I needed to have a mortgage in principle prior to offer and before I viewed housing with Martin and Co. After discussions from my helpful mortgage advisor, he has told me that I do not need to discuss my finances prior to viewing a property or making an offer. It is totally unacceptable to be asked to show my financial position and personal details before I view a property. If anything this is a terrible way to sell properties as they have now lost a potential customer for their sellers. There was 3 houses I would have like to view but after being treated with hostility and made to feel like she didn’t believe I could afford the property I would not go near Martin & Co again. The property I asked to view has been on right move for over a month and they still turned down a potential viewing. I sold my house 24 hours later they lost a potential customer and made someone feel belittled on the phone. I suggest not selling your house with Martin and Co as they obviously do not do everything in their power to sell your house, they definitely do their sellers a disservice.NegativeProfessionalism
Awful management company, very aggressive and sneaky - wouldn't recommend to anyone. First time renting and it has has been a terrible experience. We were 1 week in arrears ONCE due to a job change and M&Co staff came round banging on the windows and doors, they lied about the landlady wanting to sell and also constantly tried to come round for short notice visits and inspections, never giving us any peace. Constantly harassing us with calls, voicemails and emails.
Worst letting agent I've dealt with: house had dirty carpets when we moved in (during covid) and we were told that we could either clean the carpet ourselves or leave it in the same state when we left! They have taken 4 weeks and counting to fix our boiler after having told us there was nothing wrong with it when we reported it, three months to fix a wood burning stove..never follow up, no urgency, always us chasing them for dates that aren't met... Very poor at managing our admittedly awful and cheap landlordNegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism

Avoid! Artificially stagnating the market and creating bottlenecks to prevent genuine buyers looking at properties. Unless you are a 1st time buyer or a cash buyer expect to have sold your house and be living on the street before you can even view a property.
Hopeless. If it’s your first time trying to rent a place these people aren’t helpful at all.NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism

Disgusting service. They put the landlords first and not their tenants. Put us through so much stress throughout lockdown and shoved us outside to make a formal complaint. Do not recommend at all - we made sure we bought our current house through a different estate agent.
