Had a very negative experience letting through Kings. I rented a house which was infested with slugs at night, which was not resolved. Furthermore I had very greedy and unfair landlords who agreed to me painting the garden fence then charged me £200 at the end of my tenancy, infact despite having the property professionally cleaned they charged me £600 out of my deposit. The landlords removed batteries from the CO2 alarm then unfairly accused me and other such ridiculous antics. I found the whole experience rather traumatising as I had just moved to Tunbridge Wells and was not supported by Kings, particularly upon the ending of my tenancy. I would not recommend them at all because they did not support me nor my rights. A very unpleasant experience all round!

Dear Amanda, Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience, but we really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. We set a high standard for ourselves, and we’re so sorry to hear this was not met in your interaction with our business. From looking back at our records I can see your tenancy finished nearly 2 years ago (23/04/18). I can see from our records that you wrote to Kings Estates at the of your tenancy requesting for no further communication from the landlord(s) and you asked Kings Estates for assistance of which we provided to you and the landlord(s), to help find an amicable resolution over the return of your deposit. We understand that the landlord(s) did seek various charges from your deposit of which you did not agree to, and we helped mediate the deposit release to a satisfactory conclusion. You will appreciate that not all landlords and tenants agree over amounts claimed at the end of a tenancy and we take instructions from the landlord(s). If that happens and neither party will agree, there is a 3rd party dispute process handled by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme who would impartially look at all the evidence from looking at the ingoing Inventory, exit inventory, Tenancy Agreement, quotes and photographic evidence. They will then make a decision about how the deposit should be rewarded. This process on occasions is necessary to resolve a disagreement but can take several months. Thankfully an agreement was reached, and I note you received your deposit back in full. At the end of your tenancy, you also wrote to us to let us know the landlords had agreed pay you back in full, and apologised to us to say you were fraught with worry. This is contrary to the review you have left. I apologise on behalf of everyone at Kings Estates. Please know that your situation was an exception. As you can see on other reviews, we are known for taking ownership and caring deeply about our customers. We can’t fix the past but you have my personal commitment to improve the way our staff serves every customer. Until then, please accept my sincerest apologies on behalf of everyone on the team. Mike
