I rented a single room in a shared house just over a year ago, for 6 months when i moved out of my parents place after finishing university. This room was the first time i had rented on my own, not part of a student house, and Martin and Co were excellent through the whole process. At every stage their advice was easily accessible through just a quick phone call, and I really felt everything was dealt with smoothly. I am mainly writing this review today because I contacted the offices today after meaning for months (I stayed for 6 months, which was always the plan and was easy to arrange), because I wanted to let the owners of the building know how grateful I am for the room that they let out, this part is therefore inherently that little bit more personal: It was only a tiny little tiny room, just a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and the rest of the room was the door, but it worked perfectly for me because the rent was so reasonable at £300 a month including my bills. It allowed me to live in Reading and yet work in my retail job in Guildford that I had before moving, on a very tight but liveable budget. Without the room that this house offered, I would not have been able to enjoy anything like the freedom I found whilst renting with M&Co. My alternatives would have been waiting months to try to find a new job in Reading before I moved, or living as a lodger in someone else's family home. It wasn't perfect, the other 3 residents were a mixed bag of fantastic to out to a little intimidating, but for 6 months it was my reliable little home and I am in all seriousness forever grateful that this room was available at a sensible rate for someone in my minimum wage position to let me move into Reading and begin my post-uni life on my own and independently. Thank you for renting out that room, it means so much. :D
