We bought our first house through John Shepherd in Solihull and had a great experience. We dealt mainly with Katie and Shannon who were both fantastic - helpful, professional and efficient. When we had problems with our conveyancers, Shannon helped us to very quickly switch to a recommended conveyancer and sorted it all out extremely promptly. The whole house purchase process happened really quickly from start to finish, helped massively by John Shepherd. They really made things easy for us. Reason for 4 stars is that we had a bit of difficulty during the offer process. We were refused a second viewing on the property before putting in an offer of at least asking price (despite there being no other interest on the house). We've not heard of this happening elsewhere and the member of staff we dealt with was not very professional. Once the offer was accepted though, everything went very smoothly from there. Moving house can be a stressful experience. It took us a long time to sell our property but both Callum & Courtnie persevered and near to the end of the process we had several offers to choose from.. They followed up and kept us informed throughout the process and were always polite and helpful.

If you looking at letting with John Shepherd I would seriously think twice! The service is appalling and very disappointing. There is no compassion in the way things are and have been handled and dealt with. My shower broke on a Friday and I was assured someone would come out on the evening or Saturday morning. I have had to pay someone privately just to come out and take a look. John Shepard maintenance have then had the cheek to email me Monday PM after their lovely weekend to see if I can send further information re the shower. They just can’t get the basics right! My landlord is a brilliant person who has been very supportive and has now questioned why he has trusted his property in their hands. We have had nothing but trouble. They are keen to take the rent upfront but the assistant from them had been shocking. I would never recommend this letting agency to anyone. They have caused me nothing but stress. I have had to make alternative plans which has not only added extra costs but ruined my weekend. I am very disappointed feeling let down and disheartened. I hope they can understand how this has made me feel and other people who have been in this situation. My question is how would they feel and respond in my situation.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I paid for a ‘fully managed’ service for letting out my property. The last tenant destroyed my property in the 10 months that they were there. The agent completed a review at 6 months and stated that although untidy the apartment was in an OK state. So then this would mean that the tenants destroyed the apartment in 4 months! Trying to speak to someone was almost impossible, I got the standard, “it’s not me it’s so and so you need to speak to” I ended up complaining to the senior manager who, whilst appearing sympathetic offered no real support. To find that the tenant was on a ‘nil deposit’ scheme and that when trying to claim against John shepherd for the damage, I was told we will only cover their part of the carpet/ curtails / wall that are damaged! And also apply standard wear and tear, where 10 months prior the apartment was in ‘showhome’ condition? So what was I meant to do, cut around the damage and replace that piece of carpet/curtain! An absolute disgrace. I would urge anyone looking to use this company to avoid at all costs!

They had my home up for sale but after it’s been sold the Drome footage of the property is still live on YouTube, which is a violation of my privacy and also risk of break in I have emailed in but nothing has happened I live on lady Byron lane

Rental of a flat in the litmus building Nottingham. The experience with the estate agent was appalling. Totally unresponsive. Tried to charge for damaged (chipped) furniture. Furniture which we provided! Tried to charge extra rent after vacating as they hadn’t received the keys. This is after failing to pick up the phone (after multiple attempts) to arrange a hand over of the keys which were posted back recorded delivery. Then claimed the keys were returned later than they actually were despite a post office receipt and signature. They are now trying to charge additional rent for the period that the keys were in the post! Terrible experience. The land lord should use a different agent. I would never rent again with this agent involved who seem to operate like a low quality insurance company with a call centre that doesn’t respond.
