I have had a very poor experience as a tenant at a property managed by Winkworths. I notice that they largely have very positive views but these are from landlords and property owners rather than the people who are at the bottom of the ladder...We had issues which should have been fixed before we moved into the property which took approximately 4 months to resolve. We also had a few issues with contractors leaving the property in a poor state. However the main problems occurred after checkout. We used their recommended (expensive) cleaning company and we were then charged for cleaning that they could have dealt with. I would not recommend tenants use their cleaning services at all. There were a number of additional fees and I have disputed the ones I believe are unfair and attached evidence. Currently they have agreed to remove some, but they haven't gone into any detail about why I should pay the others. I would be happy to pay them if I felt they had done things fairly. The thing that I find most appalling was the complete disregard of our issues and lack of apology. Surely it is basic common courtesy to offer an apology? I find it incredibly rude that a senior manager would completely disregard all the issues I mentioned and not even bother to type a sentence apologising or offering assurance that it won't happen to future tenants.
