I have been renting privately with Haslams since 2017. One of the key benefits is that they are a local estate agent to Berkshire offering rental properties in a reasonably good condition. However, the positives end there. Firstly, if you have maintenance issues and need to liaise with either an allocated property manager or contractor, then there is zero urgency to get them fixed or resolved. For example, when I moved in, I waited many months for a plumbing and washing machine issue to be resolved and had to chase them for a response numerous times. Again, I have a similar situation since the end of February 2024 with getting the washing machine serviced after a fault and I am still waiting for it to be fixed. Secondly, Haslams, as the agent of the landlord, are happy to propose annual rent increases (only reprieve was in 2020 for the pandemic) without any property refreshes (eg painting, filling in settling cracks etc) and ignoring the cost of living crisis, which potentially has the effect of pricing out single households. Thirdly, for properties where the external parts of the property are managed by a separate company (Pinnacle, in this case), there are often delays as there appears to be very little coordination between Haslams and the block management company (Pinnacle). A good example of this is when our fence was blown down in October 2023 because of extremely strong winds and nothing was done for ages. In addition, there is no proper bin storage factored into the design of the grounds and it has never been addressed by either party. For these reasons and more I would not recommend Haslams.
