The Ashley Cross staff are very helpful and proactive but they can only work with what they are given to rent out! Our property has been rented by them for about 5 years, we have a good relationship and are happy with the service they give. Being quite fussy, "hands on" landlords with very high standards. We give the best we can to our clients and expect everything to be well maintained. Judging by some comments I have read, perhaps some landlords don't care enough - probably why ours always rents so easily!

I was very nervous about letting my house outing so wanted someone to manage the process for me, especially as I am not based near the house I am letting. Martin & Co have been great. They found me tenants and 3 years on we have the same tenants in place, which is great for continuity and no loss of rental income. They are very responsive if there is a maintenance problem and always seek my opinion before carrying out any work. So far they have made what I thought would be a stressful process nice and easy. Hopefully for more years to come.

Speaking as a landlord, it was not a pleasant experience renting a property through Martin & Co; starting from incorrect wording in the initial contract, poor communication and follow up action when an emergency arose when we were abroad, regular chasing of paperwork and maintenance costings, and finally, incorrect booking of boiler service/landlord certificate. Feel let down by this company so would not recommend it.

Absolutely disgusted that this agent allowed a new born baby to knowingly live in a property with black mould. Granted they did repairs that needed doing in the home but when it came to mould it was ignored. This has had an impact on the babies lungs and he has been in and out of hospital four times in his 1st year. If you rent from these people please make sure you get EVERYTHING In writing because they are very quick to deny all knowledge when you decide the challenge and complain!!!!!

Dear Sharon We are sorry that your grandchild had health issues at the property and we have already replied to your son who lived at the property regarding this claim. In the time that they lived there, over £10,500 was spent on works, mainly issues that were water related (including hidden leaks in both the kitchen and the bathroom) and potentially a contributory factor to the mould reported. A report by a specialist damp company was carried out within 3 weeks of the mould being reported which unfortunately was prolonged as it was over the Xmas break. This led to other works being carried out including the clearing of airbricks, new extractor fans and the supply of a dehumidifier. Following the reporting of mould in Dec 23 your son was offered a renewal of the tenancy in late March 24 and they replied in an e mail to my colleague Tim that they would love to sign for another year and specifically asked us to contact the owners to tell them it was lovely to meet them. In his e mail yesterday your son acknowledges the large scope of work carried out at the property but does not seem to realise that the vast majority was to alleviate the mould. Your son also claimed that this issue forced him to leave the property early whereas the actual fact was they were served notice by the landlords as they were always planning to move back in. The most recent property inspection showed that mould was no longer an issue and they left it until after they vacated before sending us a complaint where the only request was for financial compensation.

Terrible agency if you are a tenant! Very intrusive (inspections every 2 months) telling us what to do in the house we pay £1200 rent for! they try to keep our deposit! The woman said, " it might take a couple of weeks." Couple of WEEKS!?I explained that if I don't have a deposit in my account in 7 days, the landlord will have to pay interest on our money! Suddenly, the next day, all was good apart from the extra charges for cleaning fees (£159😂) of the spotless house we cleaned from top to bottom. Once again, I said nahh.. I want all the money back, or we will discuss this through DPS. I get money the next day. Don't let them scare you, and invade your place you are paying good money for! They don't have any rights and they know it (most of this people in the office probably don't as they came across with very basic knowledge of anything and are useless) So yeah if you an a tenant be aware of those scamers!

Dear Marta Thank you for your review which is very perplexing. In the 12 months you were living in the property we carried out one inspection. The only thing we asked you to do was to clear the bricks in the front garden after you took down the front wall with the owners permission. The next inspection booked for 6 months later was cancelled when you refused us entry. Inspections are carried out simply because the landlord expects and wants them. After you vacated, my colleague sent you the check out report on the day we received it and then the landlord wanted to visit the property in person. The landlord asked us to claim for some cleaning which was discussed with you and you were not happy with. We reported this back to the landlord who then decided to not claim and for the deposit to be returned in full. The Deposit Protection Service who held the money then returned this to you. There is no scamming going on (and to claim this in writing is libellous) just a small amount of negotiation.

The worst experience - they wanted to take almost £300 from our deposit when we’ve been moving out from the rented house. Nicky, who we spoke to, was rude and unhelpful. Thank God for the deposit protection scheme! We managed to get our money back after disputing charges through the TDS portal. Never again dealing with Martin&Co and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone unless you want your deposit stolen due to made-up reasons

Dear Olha. I am sorry to hear that you felt that the claim on your deposit was unjust and obviously whilst not 100% sure which property you were in I think it was one on Canford heath that we took over from another agent whilst you were living there. However, all deposits are protected in one of the governments schemes and every tenancy has an inventory and condition report at the beginning and a check out at the end carried out by independent 3rd party companies. At the end of a tenancy we will always endeavour to be totally fair and manage landlords expectations but ultimately it is the landlords decision on what to claim for. Should you feel this is unfair then there is a robust process of mediation and then using the dispute service provided by the TDS which you used. Once again I am sorry you are unhappy as we always strive to provide a fair and good service and am suprised about your comment regarding Nicky as that seems totally at odds with what we see every day.
