Brockenhurst – Terrific! Andy McElligott - Simply the best! In your corner, as it should be! After seven years (yes, seven years!) of failed attempts to sell my home, we decided to give it one last shot. My property is a 3,000 square feet property and despite being attractive, is a difficult one to market. Because of this, I had tried ALL of the so called “big boys” (and a couple of smaller ones!) who are based in Basingstoke, with their much touted but ultimately useless “London connections”. ALL of them came up short with the London connection, so please don’t be conned! Brockenhurst found our buyer in Oakley and all offers came from people in or close to Oakley! Sure, we received offers on the property in those preceding 7 years, but none of them came close to what these same agents had valued my property at or were ultimately time wasters! Offer in hand, all too frequently the agent would appear to give me the “hard sell”. I remember one store manager “softening me up” for an hour with how tough the market was, and then theatrically throwing me an envelope across our coffee table and telling me that he’d “negotiated” a brilliant deal, the best I’d ever get! He then spent another hour trying to pressure me into taking it! I felt he was not in my corner, but merely trying to land his commission charge! This has NEVER been the case with Brockenhurst. It was therefore with some trepidation that I plunged back into the market in these troubled Covid times, and even greater trepidation that I selected the smaller “Brockenhurst” agency here in Oakley. To contrast with the above background, let me turn to the Brockenhurst difference. I need not have had ANY worries about history repeating itself, especially with Andy McElligott acting for me. After an initial valuation by Sarah and some discussions about that, Andy McElligott came to look around and we came to a different and mutually agreed value. Andy immediately set about the most professional and energetic presentation of my property I’ve ever seen, with photographs and video, and we immediately started to get viewings. From the first four viewings, we got three very acceptable offers! These eventually fell away for a variety of reasons – none of which were anything to do with Brockenhurst or Andy. Despite this, Andy and Karen in the Oakley office continued to work tirelessly to find buyers and to help us achieve our sale. I thank them for doing that via this review. Brilliant work both of you which totally paid off, selling in just 82 days. Throughout, Andy has remained professional, engaged and proactive, but for me, above all, communicative and available. Too often, the only time I heard from an agent was when they wanted to show someone around. I would hear from Andy on a regular basis each week, and when I received the offer that I eventually accepted, Andy was a great sounding board to bounce my thoughts off. He kept everyone involved and engaged. Unlike with other agents, I actually felt like he was in my corner and had MY best interests at heart at all times. There are still some legal issues with my related onward purchase, but again Andy has been a great source of knowledge and advice about how to proceed. We are still waiting on this final unexpected and slightly bizarre legal issue to resolve, but after wise discussion with Andy, we have devised a way forward to help the downward chain to cope with the issues. We now move out on or before March 24th 2022. I am sure that we would not be in this situation without Brockenhurst but especially so if we had been without Andy! Top job! Seven years – until Brockenhurst came on the scene – then just a shade over 3 months! Without the legal issue it would have been shorter! I cannot thank the Brockenhurst team enough or indeed recommend them highly enough. If you want someone in your corner with YOUR interests at heart – I’ve tried the others and know they are only after commission – use Brockenhurst. They are simply the best!
