Took over the last week of my tenancy from Easy Lettings, then charged me £80 for a window latch that was already broken when I moved in (and that was reported as broken!) £80 for a window latch, without providing proof of an invoice? Avoid this company at all costs. EDIT: Whitegates refunded the amount AFTER this review was left. I'd still steer clear of this company.

Hi Rory G, Thanks for your comments, as you are aware this was discussed again with the landlord and these monies wasn't deducted from the deposit. If the monies was deducted from the deposit an invoice would be supplied to yourself as we explained. If you feel you wish to discuss this further please contact the office on 01484 452314 or email your concerns to Emily.baxter@whitegates.co.uk. Thank you

Bad experience with Whitegates Huddersfield. Rented a house for 11 months.. return of the Deposit. First they said that there are items in the shed, but these were here before I moved in ( luckily I had prove) I had the house cleaned (end of tenancy ) before I moved out, but they still had things to add on their final report. (Grass to long and to wet) , dust on sideskirts, oven greasy, items behind radiator, bathroom needs professional cleaning etc. I really think the final inspector of whitegates did something or used some old photos because the property was cleaned and they didn't let me see what they had noticed and this makes me suspicous. Even the landlord said that the property was in a bad condition but I had it in a better condition than the property was when we moved in. Ok. But what happend next just makes me mad. Me my spouse and 2 little childeren came home and noticed that there was no power, strange as it was there were lights but nothing in the sockets, so the fridge/freezer was off. I had checked the electric meter and called scottishpower but they had no problems in the area. So I called the landlord and explained. Well after a photo exchange he found out that a switch was disabled and after enable it everything worked but after a while the power went out again. We found out that there was a water leaking through the ceiling and the landlord didn't want to sent someone out because of the sunday rate and someone would come monday. I have 2 kids and there was water dripping through the smokealarm and the best thing ( safest) things was to disable it and disconnect it. Now whitegates and the landlord want to charge me money for this. 288 pounds!! I saved them fire hazards. I even had viewings done for whitegates so the property would let soon after we left( sometimes 4 viewings a day) Total of 13 viewings in 5 days sometime the agent of whitegates didn't even come and I had to show the future tenants around. Wel whitegates all smiley faces and kind behaviour untill they have to return the deposit money. Never in my life whitegates again. I had rented through agency before and never had deal with things like this. Greedy people who wants to eat some of the deposit money.

Dear Nabeela, There are two sides to every story. We do not manage your property nor do we have any financial gain in obtaining any deposit. As you are aware the house was not left in the condition it was given to you. The DPS will adjudicate in the matter as that is where the deposit is held.

Worst ever letting agency. They tray to take money from deposit for something that not exist. AVOID. L.E. like I can't reply to the answer, I will write hier : No, I wasn't agree with that 10£ for "missing bulbs" because I have let much more bulbs that I found on that house. Landlord was all ok, but agency WORST EVER

Good Afternoon Tomoiaga, I can see that you have been one of our past tenants for a LET ONLY property, all deductions made was agreed by yourself and the landlord. If at any point you wish / wished to dispute this through the DPS, you can submit your evidence to them. The DPS are there for the tenants as well as landlords. As the property is a let only and you wish to discuss this further please contact your landlord. Regards Whitegates Huddersfield

This company has no standards, or support for tenants. Want your money and fob you off when you have a complaint. I avoid at all costs

Hi Sharon, thanks for your comments, I can see you vacated one of our properties we manage in March 2018, I have looked through your archived tenancy and I am unable to find any reasons for concern? Please can you email your concerns through to Emily.baxter@whitegates.co.uk. Kind Regards

They have asked me to pay "overdue rent". I transfered straight away in minutes. I relized i have paid twice when i check my bank account 2 week later. First paymant was already on time by standing order one day before they reminded(!) unpaid rent. I called them to ask a refund and why it has happened. The woman on the phone recommended me to check my bank account before making a payment. Then I asked her why do not they check payments before asking people to make another payment. The answer was brilliant; "Don't tell me what I have to do!"

Dear Sir As you will be aware we adhere to strict codes of practise in relation to client monies and have a CMP account regulated by the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA). I do feel you have been rather economical in respect of the facts of the above. The rent is due on the 23rd and was not received. We therefore chased the outstanding amount. You then made two payments on the same day (26th). Clearly this wasn’t intentional by yourself however we do recommend that a standing order is set up to avoid such issues. As you are aware this is not the first time we have had to chase you regarding late payments. The issue has now been resolved and you have received back the payment when requested. Please do contact me if you have any further queries reference this matter. Regards, Chan Khangura Managing Director Whitegates Estate Agents 01484 548126

Wouldn't use Whitegates to sell your house . Had a guy come to value my house last week . He was very rude and abrupt. Never introduced himself . When showed him round he was very quick and uninterested. He valued it very low. Advised that I get some valuations when I said I had and that they had valued it a lot higher he just said go with them then and got up and walked out. Very poor service but been told since that they are only interested in Rentals. Well they should have said that when the valuation was booked so as I wouldn't have waited my time .
