Hand on heart, the worst company I have ever had this misfortune of having to deal with. Myself & my husband rented a property through Martin and co Horsforth, all fine until we wanted to leave the tenancy 1 month early due to exceptional family circumstances. We was happy to pay the final month rent despite us moving out before. Previous to us leaving, we asked for the colour of the walls in the properties living room, Ellie advised she had asked the landlord but upon chasing on 2 occasions she advised me the landlord had NOT responded. I then purchased endless testers and two tubs of paint in the hope it would match but it didn’t. We then got the inventory through which advised the colour was ‘magnolia’ so we went ahead and painted it magnolia. The same within the bedroom. Once we had left and cleaned the property, we got the report through that they wanted to withhold £680. Some of this for the painting ….. after many back and fourths with Alison, Ellie and Dan and many extremely rude and upsetting conversations, I had a response directly from the landlord advising that she had in fact responded 3 days after Ellie’s first email regarding the paint but Ellie HAD NOT passed this on to us. They also tried to charge for a door handle which came off all the time which myself and my 1 year old son actually had an issue with one day, resulting in us been locked in thebathroom whilst my young daughter was still asleep despite us rating this as a concern. They then advised the property wasnt clean and there were a few stains on the carpet in the bedroom. My huge concern is our photos don’t display this and after a family member had previously done work for Martin and co, i don’t think they are as trustworthy as some think … its very concerning. They then advised the wasn’t sure what the landlord was doing once we had left so both myself and my husband had many a nights worrying trying to sort money to be able to cover the last months bills. However, the landlord and Martin and co knew exactly what their intentions were as 4 hours after we left, the report was done and the house was ready to be back up for rent! Thankfully we got some of the money back and thankfully we got £1164 of our deposit back out of £1380 after a dispute with the DPS. I found every member of staff to be rude, Alison putting the phone down on me, answering a call to Ellie whilst on the phone to me and me been mid sentence to her, and saying to Ellie on the phone ‘yeah she’s just going on & on’. They also advised the landlord was happy to contribute to some of the costs but I had an email from the landlord explaining this wasn’t the case. I have never, ever, ever had to deal with such shocking customer service, the impact this has had both on my and my husband has been extremely difficult. I can only be thank ful that after having a bit of a fight on our hands we got most of our money back thanks to photo evidence. I will never ever ever rent again, whoever has now rented 79 Farrar Lane, Adel, I can only wish you good luck, you’ll need it dealing with this company. Nothing but liars and crooks. Good riddance!

This company apparently “manages” a rented property at the back of my house. They think it’s acceptable for my neighbours trees to physically enter my toddlers bedroom through the window causing an extreme fire hazard. We have paid for and forwarded the land registry to prove ownership. Me and my partner have to constantly chase them up because they never respond. I would avoid using them for anything. There’s now an ongoing dispute with the neighbours and my partner has had to contact a solicitor. If you want to rent a house from them, be warned they may never resolve any issues for you. Communication is extremely poor to the point where I don’t really know why anyone would ever use their services.
Trish Bell was so “polite”. I told her I am going to open a business and she says”that means you are unemployed”. I say I am looking to move in a month’s time. She says”the property is available NOW!”. Excuse me? Will you finish the paper work that fast I can move in right away? I would say Martin & Co Keighley are much better than this branch.

I have to say just how dissatisfied I have been left with the customer service of Martin & Co. Myself and my partner are both looking to rent a flat that is within our area and larger than our current home, we found a flat that looked perfect for us, and enquired about a viewing. We arranged that it would be just myself viewing the property. The only time available was for Friday at 10.45am, I agreed to take my lunch at this time and meet the property manager. I had arrived and was knocking on the door for a few minutes and then decided to walk round the back only to be greeted by a lady who had no interest in showing me around the property. I had tried to engage with her by asking questions and explaining my office is not far up the road as well as explaining we are happy to pay the deposit and rent up front. I had no response from her whatsoever, I asked if it was possible to apply and was told that she would be speaking to the landlord. I then waited over the weekend and decided to give her a quick call on Monday, just to see if there was an application we could fill out. I was told that would not be a problem and that she would be back to me by the afternoon, I heard nothing and just left a message. I tried to call again today with no answer, I tried to call their branch and got through straight away to the very same women, I was then told I wasn’t able to apply because the applications had been sent off this morning. I explained I have been trying to apply and was told that I had, by telling the lady that we were planning to pay the deposit and rent upfront. I questioned this as it is no form of an application. They had no details to look at how much we earn, or our credit history or references, no guarantors. She then asked me why we were even planning to pay upfront anyway, and then finished with it’s too late now anyway. I’m not one to argue so I left it at that, if this lady had taken the time to meet myself properly or even look into myself and my partner, she would know that we earn a decent yearly income between us, both working very stable jobs within very stable and rewarding industries. Not that this makes us any better for the property than anyone else, however I feel we should have at the very minimum been given the chance to apply and I just feel no one should be left feeling the way we have when they are looking for their next home. I’m glad I have been shown the level of customer service so early on, especially knowing the lady I was dealing with is a branch manager! it has stopped me from ever looking to rent with them again.
I had booked a viewing which I was informed by a member of staff will take place. When I go on their website the property is no longer there, and on RightMove it says let agreed. I understand if someone else reserved the property. However, my issue is that no one informed me at all. Not even on the day of the viewing. I had to call to clarify things, and what’s worse I was told I would get a call back about this, but no one bothered to call. It’s a good thing I didn’t go, as I would have wasted my time. No one even sent a confirmation after I had agreed to the date offered for the viewing, to say this was definitely taking place. They had called me many times before to discuss this property, but when it came to me actually going through with a viewing no one cared to update me about anything.
Yet another example of poor property management from a careless letting agent. They couldn’t care any less if they tried. Landlord happy to increase our rent again this year yet zero interest in looking after their investment. Bizarre.
If I could give zero I would. The worst experience as a tenant I've ever had.
