As a buyer we got the unfortunate news from our surveyor that there was an immediate very large expense awaiting us on completion of our purchase, something not having been made even a slight bit apparent by the description of the property or the agents. While I understand the aim is to sell the property, honesty would have saved everyone a great amount of time and upset. Ongoing maintenance for an older property is an absolute given, something we had taken into account. (Even though the agent felt it necessary to tell us he had assumed oherwise). However the cost and work required was far far from doable and we had to step away. The response from the Agent was utterly distasteful and completely unprofessional. I'd suggest keeping your sarcastic comments to yourself rather than in formal communications. To put it bluntly I have seen other properties under this agency and purely due to the handling of this I will not entertain any property advertised with them. While one agent was brilliant the other that we had the 'pleasure' of dealing with was far from it. As this being a common part of purchasing and selling properties its clear the impression from this agency is that they couldn't give a rats arse about the people involved, its just about the commission they will make. I hope the sellers of the property we had thought would be our forever home will get a new buyer and all move quickly, but if the agency aren't going to let people know that there is a huge expense awaiting them as soon as the purchase is made the sellers will be in for a lot of heart ache!NegativeProfessionalism

.... We are always very disappointed and saddened to receive a negative review but welcome the opportunity of clarifying. As Selling Agents we have a legal responsibility to act in the best interests of our Clients who are the Sellers of the properties we market and to achieve for them the best price possible. The property in question was a 200 year old character cottage. All buyers do of course need to satisfy themselves as to the condition of a property, by way of a survey if they so choose. This is always helpful not least for information purposes going forward. It is however subjective, what one buyer deems wholly acceptable and comfortable to 'take on board' another will not. All properties of any age require ongoing maintenance, however seasoned buyers will be aware that it is inevitable a property of such a great age will have a fair amount of issues. It is also the very age and uniqueness of such a property which dictates the 'value' as was borne out by the waiting list of applicants. It behoves us as Professional Selling Agents with a wealth of experience to advise the Seller whether any negotiation in the price is necessary in all of the circumstances. On this occasion given that there were waiting, willing applicants who understood the nature of this beautiful property and appreciated the value thereof, our advice being that we were confident they would achieve the asking price. The Sellers have since expressed their gratitude to our professionalism having now successfully exchanged contracts at the asking price. The buyers having 'taken on board' such a property comes with certain issues and are thrilled to become the new owners of this unique beautiful character home.

You can only call so many times to arrange a viewing on a property that has been on the market since Last August! Despite promises I’m still waiting for a call back, and a viewing! �
