After 12 years of managing several properties for me it is verry dispointing to be threatened with court. I was of the understanding letting agents were there to help and advise. In this case charged for a contractor to visit and report on works to be completed, and said ther contractor needs to undergo the works or they won't sign it off. Works I could have got completed by one of our contractors ended up costing hundreds and faced with cort threats when suggested the works are a 38% higher then ive been quoted. :(

Mr Evans, in response to your review, this is in regards to the new Electrical safety regulations, that came in to force this July. Having taken your instruction to go ahead and arrange for an electrician to do the EICR check, our contract found a fault that needed to be repaired before he could sign off the report. We sent you the quote for the works and you advised us that you wanted your own contractor to do the remedial work, as ours was more expensive, and then have our contractor just sign off the report. Having checked with our contractor we explained that if your own contractor did the remedial work, our contractor would have to go back and check the works done, to then be able to sign this off. They cannot sign off someone else’s work without checking it first. We advised you this would lead to a further charge and really not cost effective for you in light of the cost of the remedial work needed. Despite chasing you on this issue you have not responded and we are now concerned for you and your tenant that you do not hold a valid EICR and therefore in breach of current regulations. We will continue to chase you for the EICR. If your contractor has completed one we do need a copy.

I think 2 starts is beyond fair . The only reason they get this they seem nice people... i won't go into to much detail but i know there's much more going on behind the phone. The simple things of calling back or sticking to any agreement is none existant. Some of the things they've suggested to avoid sending someone out to fix a blocked toilet / pump is a joke. Mop it up ? Theres no really sense of urgency . Surely a sanity issue is fairly important. The shower, toilet and sink all unusable for 3 days... quite unbelievable.

Dear Mr Mow, looking across our records I cannot find any details for you. If you would like to contact the office on 01452 528333 I am more than happy to look into this for you. Thank you. Martin & Co.

Worst agents ever. Taking advantage of foreigners, they made you sign a fixed term contract every year instead of a rolling contract. When you try to leave, they made your life imposible, trying to get money for everything. They are not giving landlords details even if you asked for them. I hope they don’t do that to anyone else, but I doubt it. Choose another agency you won’t regret. If you think living on the property for 7 years and making me pay renewal fees every year is fair… let the people decide. Now you are trying to charge me £300 because you think the flat is not clean… see the photos and hopefully more people realize how bad you are and stop choosing to work with you.

Dear Daniel, We are very disappointed to read your review after renting through Martin & Co. for over 7 years. You made the request to be released from your contract mid-term which we helped you to do with the landlord, despite you being in a fixed term contract. We advised the flat required a clean and you may want to do this prior the checkout as it would be of benefit to you and less likely for the landlord to claim for cleaning from your deposit. You chose not to undertake the cleaning. Now the check-out has been completed it will be down to the landlord if they feel they want to claim for the clean that had to be done before the new tenant moved in. With the other outstanding issues, you still have to address with the property, We feel it would not be the right place to list those on an open forum and trust you will address these matters as soon as you are able.

As a letting agent it's quite clear that they don't care about the residents in the property's and only interested in the money from the landlord 😡 …

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I placed a holding deposit on a house on the promise of the house being decorated to a high standard, etc. On viewing the property, once finished, the decorating looked like it had been done by a 4 year old, and the carpet in the living room was threadbare. We were advised to put a rug over it to cover it. It was also then we were told that the living room fire had been condemned. When we declined the property due to these issues we were not only provided with shocking customer service but we were also told that due to work done by the Landlord we wouldn't be allowed any of our money back. Absolutely disgusting! martin&co you should be ashamed!

We are disappointed to have received your review. You viewed the house on three separate occasion and we did inform you each time works were taking place including a new kitchen which was being done by our contractor and painting which was being done by the landlord and it was agreed this would be ready prior to move in. On the final viewing to check the works were all but complete prior to your move in, the bath panel still needed to be replaced a mattress to be removed. You were informed this would be done before you were due to move in at the end of the week. On that viewing you were advised that the fire had been disconnected and both you and your partner were happy for this to be removed. Your partner kindly offered to plaster the gap and swapped numbers with the owner who was at that viewing to arrange a date to do this. The carpets in the property were cleaned professionally and we have the receipt as agreed, there was a concern the carpet was worn by the patio door. Your holding deposit was not returned to you due to the fact you withdrew your application for the property the day before your move in, and as per our terms that you agreed to and signed, your holding deposits would cover costs incurred by Martin and Co for the works and referencing costs.
