My wife and I bought a newly built flat in Edinburgh with the help of Neilsons. We hadn't bought a property in a long time and a lot of the processes had changed. There was no money laundering concerns in the late 80's I guess. As it was a fixed priced new-build it was fairly straightforward compared to others. Neilsons were recommended to us by a relative who is a solicitor and we got the impression that conveyancing was the focus of their business. We did find all the stuff that arrived via email a bit bamboozling and getting the hang of the secure software system (for internet transfer of confidential documents) at the start was a bit complex. However, it was there for a reason and every time we had to send something confidential to Neilsons we used the secure software. Once you're set up for the first time then it becomes a lot easier. Throughout the process we found our solicitor Kara, and Becky (who was in charge of the anti-money laundering software) to be very helpful and responsive. Particularly so when we were getting to the entry date and stuff was changing on a daily basis. So would I recommend them? Yes without hesitation.
