Please avoid this letting agency if you want your deposit back. Me and my partner gave our end of tenancy notice one month before we moved out and the agency is now saying that we left without letting them know. We have all the evidence that it has been done. The agency is now avoiding all our calls and emails. They say they will ring us back but they never do. Last time we rang them they just hung up on us in the middle of the call. If you read other reviews you can see that they have done this to other people aswell.

Really poor customer service. Filled in a form for a property that I was interested in as requested on the day it was uploaded to Rightmove. A whole four days had come and gone and had no update for a physical viewing. Called up again today and was told the property was gone. Didn’t even notify me of physical viewings taking place and was still showing available on rightmove after the call. Stay well clear. The bad reputation for punctuality and professionalism I had been told about was correct.

The worst agency in the UK. I've rented property all over the UK and I've got to admit Martin & Con are the worst. Don't trust these guys go somewhere else.

Arranged a viewing with them today and they didn't show. When I phoned to ask where they were they said they'd already agreed an application with someone and then said that one of their colleagues had phoned & emailed me that morning (which they hadn't). I wouldn't usually leave a negative review for a simple mistake, but I'm not a fan of liars/timewasters. Poor service.

Jacob, I tried calling directly following the review to explain the results of our inquiry as to what happened with your viewing. I can assure you that no staff member lied to you during the process, they were acting based on best practice and the reason you were not informed was a simple administration error from our negotiator. It was an honest mistake and she apologises, but assured me that she was not the one you spoke to on the day of the viewing. I believe you spoke to a different colleague who had seen that because there wasn't a viewing showing, it had therefore been cancelled and you had been informed as per our process. Again, a mistake which we acknowledge and apologise for. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to discuss how we can make it right in this instance, and we are always monitoring and improving our processes and will take this as a learning experience our end. Tenants, please do not use them. They’re scams and tried to defraud me of £400 deposit in 2019. Luckily DPS were supportive and helpful, and got my money back. They are also very bad communicators, specifically if you report a fault. I had complained multiple times on a certain issue from the start of my tenancy and instead of fixing it, they tried to charge me for it (a fault not from me) at the end of my tenancy. My other flatmates had multiple issues with the letting agency also.

I moved into a HMO with Martin and Co a couple of years ago. It was a really stressful experience which lead me to ask for my room to be re-marketed after several months. I have never had any issues renting elsewhere. I took the room under the premise there was secure parking. However there were more cars than spaces and after being unable to park my car securely most of the time, one day I woke up to find my car had been keyed all the way round causing £1600 worth of damage. It was a rough area. My bedroom was downstairs and the upstairs room above me wooden floored. The tenant in the room above me would frequently got out till late night mid week and come home drunk with friends keeping me awake till 3am. I start work at 6am. Ear plugs weren’t enough. I was constantly stressed and tired. After explaining all this to M C they had zero sympathy. Telling me I was using this a leverage to get out the property early. They made me feel like I was a problem and the relationship deteriorated quickly. They charged me a fee of something in the region of £140 to re-market the property. Within a week they accepted the first tenant who came to view even though they didn’t want to move in until the day my tenancy was due to end. I explained my situation to the manager who was really insensitive and obnoxious. This was the first time I’ve dealt with customer service style like this and hopefully the last. So bad was my experience I ended up moving out 4 months early while continuing to pay rent. I was vacant from the room for 4 months paying full rent to the cost of thousands of pounds and they couldn’t even let something so petty as a blown lightbulb go, threatening to withhold my deposit as a result. Thankfully I’m buying my own house next year. Tenants think twice.
