If I could give -10 stars for this company I would. They were very eager to get my business, and I went with this company as I had no other option due to the short notice my previous landlord had given me to move out – if I had read these reviews I would have thought twice. My first month in my flat I was emailing the Crewe branch to find out the bank details to which I should send the rent, and had no call backs, no email responses for weeks. I then receive a letter from Martin & Co stating that they are going to take legal action against me as I have not paid the rent! I had to go into the actual branch to get the bank details from them as they couldn’t be arsed to respond to my phonecalls or emails. In addition to this, when I moved out, they found it justified to charge me £50 to replace a light bulb, which can be bought from Wilkinsons for £2...? They have still not given me back my full deposit (it is now nearly 2 months after my moving out date), as they now claim I owe them £450.00 to repair a wall that has been knocked down. I tried disputing this ridiculous cost with them by saying I would find a cheaper quote, but no one replied to me (surprise surprise)... without confirmation from me they have decided to take the £450 from my deposit anyway, meaning that in order for me to get my money back, I now need to dispute this charge with the Deposit Protection Service, which they have warned me will take a minimum of 28 to resolve! What's more, myself and a friend were out one night, and saw employees from the Crewe branch having a few drinks together, and being polite and friendly, I said hello to them. The branch manager was very polite around his colleagues, but after a few drinks he left his colleagues and stayed with me and my friend, repeatedly saying inappropriate comments to us. Highly inappropriate messages have also been sent to me from him on a social networking site, resulting in me having to block him, as he seems unaware that I am a customer, not a prospective date. Such an unprofessional company! They strive for amazing customer service when they know they are going to get a contract from you, but after you have signed the paperwork, it is evident that they don’t care. Branch manager needs to keep it in his pants and office staff need to learn some basic manners. Wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.
