If you’re considering selling in Bury St Edmunds, you can expect all of the following from Mark Ewin and his team (Mark, Kym, Alison, Sharon, Laura and Barry):- An accurate appraisal of the market and a credible valuation (not an inflated price which is what chain agencies use to lure you in); good quality photography; liaison with the client on the brochure, viewings with adequate time and repeat viewings encouraged; C19 measures sent in advance to all parties; feedback passed immediately to the seller; potential buyers briefed on their position, intentions and suitability; industry and legal chain checks carried out immediately; a single centralised record viewable by all staff members at a glance; being kept informed at every stage, and a weekly update on your case should you require it. Mark and his staff use honest plain language: no ‘estate agent spiel' or flannel. If they ever don’t have the information to hand, they’ll say so and ring you back when they do. Where they score highly is that they don't hesitate to pick up the phone and ring other parties where necessary. This used to be normal practice but these days too many offices consist of young staff who simply do not know how to use a telephone or are too scared to ring a stranger and ask questions, even when a matter is urgent or requires a degree of negotiation. These things cannot be done by email – you have to pick up the phone. Even our solicitor’s staff let themselves and us down on this issue. Mark Ewin's resolved several unfortunate events prompted by our seller, their agent and their solicitor, over the phone and then confirmed in writing (email) afterward, just as it should be. They were even prepared to ring agents up and down the chain - not all agents do this. These actions, carried out in one day, put our purchase and therefore our sale and the associated chain, back on track. Mark Ewin outshone not only our previous agent but stood head and shoulders above other contenders in Bury St Edmunds and indeed everyone else we dealt with in the course of our move. I found out by chance halfway through our sale that they'd won several customer service awards, some of which were handed to them by Phil Spencer. No surprise. It was a pleasure to do business with them and to write this review, for which I’ve received no incentive or reward, other than excellent service on my sale. A traditional, plain-speaking customer-focussed firm. Take note, other estate agents: this is how it's supposed to be done. Three cheers for Mark Ewin’s. Keep up the good work!
