Had high hopes for this estate agent as we had some very good viewings with them and got on with the staff that we viewed with. However, when it came to actually trying to buy a property it was very disappointing. An issue came up with the house that they did make us aware of prior to starting the buying process (we went ahead as our broker wrongly said it would be okay with lenders) however the commutation around this was very poor for the following 5 months. Whilst all staff were friendly we were constantly having to email or call to get any updates, particularly in the first few months, and frequently were waiting more than a few days for a response. Then when things seemed to progress more, any communication was only limited to one of us, normally the last person they spoke to. For example I normally had contact with brokenhurst so I was normally called with updates, however if I wasn’t able to answer they didn’t try contacting my partner or send an email. Then if my partner spoke to them they would contact him after but did not attempt to contact me if he wasn’t available! We also asked numerous times for both of us to be included in emails but this didn’t happen and meant that myself and my partner constantly forwarding Brokenhurst’s emails to each other. It became a very frustrating situation that could’ve been less stressful if communication was better. That said, if there weren’t issues with the house it’s possible we would have had a better experience! Like I said, staff were friendly and nice enough to chat to but communication really was appalling! Sadly the sale fell through but it does feel like a blessing in disguise as it was so stressful and we won’t be returning to brokenhurst to buy or sell through. As first time buyers the current market is hard enough already without supportive estate agents!
