I've bought, built and sold properties every year for the last ten. We have a beautifully renovated house to sell in Whitley Lodge, with a substantial plot of land attached. After multiple calls, and no response to emails I'll take my business elsewhere. If 0 stars was an option I would have given it. For anyone selling a property over £350k, please look at the reviews/ratings before signing up with this company.

Let down unpleasant experience

I wish I never went with this company told me my buyer had bio chain and was cash buyer 2 weeks later was told my buyer was part of a chain which then collapsed told buyer still wanting the property and kept me waiting for two months then put an offer below the agreed price then pulled out after 2 days. Also advised me to reduce the price which I agreed but kept my old price up for 3 weeks after that. Went 3 weeks without any contact to keep me up dated . An unpleasant experience all around never again

Misleading, unprofessional, wish I had gone elsewhere.

If they treat their tenants the way they treat their prospective tenants then we’ve dodged a bullet. Lied to me on the phone and then never called us back. Previously offered callbacks never upheld. Shockingly ran, and from speaking to other people in the Whitley Bay area they’ve had similar experiences. Steer clear.

Sold our house through Cooke and co recently. When Nigel came out to value the property he spent a long time telling us all about how they would go the extra mile to help us and how he would personally help with the negotiations throughout the chain if we needed it. In reality he stopped answering texts and calls within a week of us signing the contract with them. The time I did manage to speak to him the advice he gave me directly contradicted what his sales team said. Most of the staff in the office were polite and friendly however, one particular member of staff could be very abrupt (bordering on rude). I felt very unsupported by Cooke and co and actually had more support from the estate agent of the house we were buying. They also have a deal with a local (and very good) solicitor which means if you sell through Cooke and co and want to use this firm you end up paying substantial referrers fees. This was not made clear to us on signing up. In short they sold our house quickly but did nothing to make the process feel smooth or easy and the staff could be difficult to deal with. Given that they charge significantly more than other estate agents in the area I would have expected more from them.

TERRIBLE

Recently I bought a house through this company and I have to say it was the most unenjoyable experience I have ever had. From the day we asked for a viewing which we weren’t told was an open house viewing and the estate agent who was at the house for the viewing was terrible and unhelpful. But unfortunately we wanted the house so we had to carry on. From the moment my offer was excepted I was hounded for proof of funds and threatened to lose the deal if it wasn’t received that day. After everything was finalised while waiting for the keys I asked to get into the house with a plasterer to quote for some work. A lady turned up to let us in and then ushered us out after a few minutes. The tradesman didn’t have time to look at everything he needed to and couldn’t price the job. Picking the keys up topped it off for me no care or attention taken I was just handed a crumbled envelope with the keys in while they checked my ID. Very shocked and disappointed with this agent.
