I wanted to purchase a 'Buy to Let' property in Thanet to give me an income. I don't live in Thanet and hadn't bought a property for 35 years so was rather apprehensive about the whole process. Belvòir was recommended to me so I went to see Hughie & Gavin. I have been so impressed by their professionalism. They were happy to advise me every step of the way, from the type of property to buy, which areas are best for rentals, and those areas to avoid. They also did 'pre-purchase' inspections of houses I considered buying, to avoid me paying for an expensive full survey on an unsuitable property. They were able to recommend a very helpful local surveyor, and keep a list of experienced local tradespeople to call upon should that be necessary. They have even undertaken minor repair jobs themselves! They found tenants for my property within two days of advertising it, and my tenants were in the house very soon after Belvoir had undertaken all the necessary reference and financial checks. I am very happy with the service Belvoir provides and have no hesitation in highly recommending them. Jan Wright

I have rented out my property for two years with Belvoir Thanet and the team have been professional, knowledgeable and helpful. They have dealt with any tenant queries, changes of tenant and paperwork smoothly, quickly and efficiently. Highly Recommended!

We had a positive experience moving into the property. But when it came to us relocating the agent did not seem bothered we had damp issues and we had a hole in the kitchen ceiling thanks to the landlords dodgy plumping! The viewings he was not there for some and got timings wrong! He also had a full inventory of the house he then said to the potential tenants that our personal belongs, for example, the American fridge freezer and washer dryer was coming with the house! Didn't do his homework. In addition, if you are on DSS don't bother with Belvoir we were told by the agent they won't consider them but still let them view the property as a box-ticking exercise. He admitted that before we took on the property that he was aware of the social issues i.e. drug dealers on our street when we asked if there were any issues at our initial viewing he neglected to tell us. Keep away a bunch of cowboys!

Hi Marcus, thanks for taking the time to review our services. I will always hold my hands up and admit to when we are wrong (and sometimes it happens, we are not perfect) however I would like to respond to this wholly unfair, inaccurate and negative review and address the points you have made. 1) Damp issues - We did not manage the property so it is you who are responsible for reporting any damp issues to your landlord direct. 2) Hole in the ceiling - The landlord had already told us that the hole in the ceiling was caused by a leak from the shower, a leak which had been fixed and repair work was booked in for when you vacated the property. 3) Viewings - there was 1 occasion that the applicant turned up at the wrong time, knocked on your door and you showed them round. We were on our way and would have been there at the time it was actually booked for, you were also aware of the time it was booked for as this was booked via yourself. 4) Regarding your fridge freezer and washer dryer - I have spoken to the gentleman who did the viewings and he simply asked if the white goods were yours or came with the property. I accept your point that he should have known about this and we have taken actions to ensure this is the case moving forward with all our properties. 5) Applicants in receipt of housing allowance - As an agency we accept that everyone’s circumstances are different and take every application in to consideration. We are not however the final decision makers and this comes down to the individual landlords, there are other circumstances that can affect this with some insurance companies products not valid if the house is tenanted by people in receipt of housing benefit. Whilst we agree this is unfair it is completely out of our control. 6) Social issues – We find this comment extremely dishonest and can categorically deny that this even happened. I do wish that you had taken the time to contact us and discuss why you felt that our professionalism had been well below what is expected instead of writing this review, 5 months after you had actually vacated the property.
