I bought a house in Callander last year that was being sold by Martin and Co. The experience from beginning to end was on the whole fairly good with one serious misgiving and another inconvenience. Viewing the property...the service was very good...I viewed twice and on both occasions the assistants were helpful, courteous and knowledgeable about the property. Making the offers(several before acceptance) was handled very well by someone in the office who was speaking to the client and calling me back promptly. So for the 2 aspects above I was very pleased with the service offered. I was less than satisfied with the following...... Firstly, after purchase I asked if It was possible to visit the property once more so I could take measurements in order that I could be making preparations prior to entry. I emailed and called numerous times leaving messages for the manager....my calls remained ignored. Finally after a very strong email I received a call from a junior member of staff who apologised and did offer help.....weeks had gone by and by that time it was too late. I was extremely disappointed by this lack of follow up which seemed to indicate that when a sale was complete interest diminished??!! Secondly there were keys missing to the property and there was no access to the outside from the rear of the property or to the garage. Despite reassurances that the keys would be available they never were which meant after entry I had to have a locksmith deal with the issue.....perhaps indicating that once sold interest was reduced by the selling agent?? Overall.....some aspects of the service would rate very good and others poor meaning my overall rating would be fair/good.

Have to say I'm not a fan of this firm. We rented a flat for 7 years through them, never missed s payment and left the place in a far better state than we found it (left some lovely furniture as well for the Landlord) They still managed to hold back some deposit for 'nothing' reasons. Wish I had pointed out the amount of times they entered the flat without prior agreement at that point as that caused far more upset and cost than the fact that there was a 4mm mark on a wall.... Beware this company for security deposit returns

Do not use them to let out your property. I had tenants placed in my house for two years who managed to wreck the place and destroy garden, furniture, carpets etc. Also had an attitude towards my long-term neighbours. All this from a local businessman who was supposed to be there with only his 2 kids had moved his girlfriend and family in without informing Martin & Co making a grand total of two adults, 4 children with another on the way and a dog who all werent supposed to be there according to lease on a 3 bed property. When asked afterwards if I could see the landlord references taken at time of letting I was told there were none. Pretty shabby pre checks and then Martin & Co went on to house same family into another poor persons property despite the trouble. Two stars given only as they managed to sell my property efficiently as requested.

I have been renting through Martin & Co Stirling for nearly 10 years, and this year has shown me serious issues in how they handle tenants when problems arise. Since 27 January 2025, I have been living with very intrusive noise from the shop directly below my flat. I raised the issue promptly via My Property File, but the agency ignored it for months, and it was later cancelled without any explanation or communication. I tried to live with the noise during that time, but it was clearly unmanageable, so I reached out again in May. Martin & Co Stirling apologised for their silence but made little effort to ensure my landlord, who remains closely connected to the shop, took action to resolve the noise. In my experience, they did not emphasise my landlord’s responsibility to provide a habitable property and repeatedly told me to “wait” for services that never fixed the problem. While the agency does not control the shop itself, they and my landlord are responsible for ensuring the flat is suitable for living. At one point, a Martin & Co Stirling agent relayed a comment from my landlord about him “not having raised the rent,” which, given it was said in response to my noise complaint, felt unsettling. Retaliating against tenants over reasonable, legitimate complaints is unlawful under Scottish tenancy law. Updates were promised but never came, emails were said to have been sent but never materialised, and they refused to put anything in writing. Since the noise began, it has severely impacted my life and my ability to live peacefully. I have been forced to avoid both the lounge and main bedroom during the hours it runs (3pm–11pm). Martin & Co Stirling, along with my landlord and the shop owner, were fully informed of the situation but took no meaningful steps to resolve it. From my perspective, Martin & Co Stirling, my landlord, and the shop owner have spent nearly 8 months evading responsibility and stalling. They have done nothing but offer vague timelines for supposed fixes that lead nowhere. Environmental Health are now investigating the shop for a statutory nuisance, and I believe this process could have been avoided if the agency and my landlord had adequately addressed the issue. To make matters worse, in late August I had to move my mattress onto the floor on the other side of the flat due to overnight noise from the shop that now runs 24/7. In my experience, the agency has shown little empathy, accountability, or professionalism. This situation has been extremely difficult to endure, and it seems they have little interest in protecting the wellbeing of tenants. I will not allow the months of relentless, debilitating disturbance I have endured to be minimised or downplayed. If you value honesty, support, and a basic duty of care, I cannot recommend Martin & Co Stirling.

Martin & Co provide us with appalling service as tenants. Moved into a property in March which had glass fridge shelves hanging on by nails - yes nails. Despite this being a safety issue, 5 months on no replacement shelves. They don’t give a monkeys. Don’t follow up or challenge/chase the landlord. Don’t support us as tenants.
