Helpful
First purchase of property in Northumberland, contacted Dobsons to arrange several viewings in the area dealing mainly with Abigail who was extremely helpful and very pleasant to work with. In her absence all other Dobson staff members offered what ever assistance they could.
Lomond handled the tenancy process for our new apartment. The application and referencing were done through their online systems, and we successfully moved in on our agreed date.
Helpful initially on 1st property enquired/viewed. Emailed over 2 others, but my emails weren't responded to.
Appalling experience with John Shepherd. After 6 years of loyalty, they have committed gross professional negligence by authorized an early tenant move-out without my consent, breaking a fixed-term contract. Most alarmingly, they have taken unauthorized deductions from my rent account (increasing fees by 2% without a signed agreement). They are also currently ignoring a formal complaint. Absolute lack of integrity and professional standards. Avoid at all costs. UPDATE (March 4th): In response to the agency's comment below: I have already escalated this directly to your CEO and Property Management Director. As your agency has admitted professional negligence and performed unauthorized deductions from my client account, I have set a final deadline of 12:00 PM tomorrow for a written settlement. If this is not met, I will be proceeding with formal filings to The Property Ombudsman and Propertymark. I am awaiting a professional resolution, not a generic redirect.
DO NOT USE FOR RENTING. We used Hunters for a rental in chesterfield and they turned out to be the most incompetent estate agents ever. Especially matte barns. They waited until after we signed the contract to then tell us the landlord would no longer be willing to invest money in the property. We had electricians in stating the electrics were dangerous (after being supplied with a certificate for electrical testing) we had extension leads running all over the kitchen and the shed that was part of the structure was falling down and mould everywhere to which their response was to 'clean it everyday'. Upon leaving, barns supplied false and manipulated images to the deposit holding company declaring all charges, coincidentally, came to nearly the full amount of the deposit. The first image was of the gas meter, with his middle finger poiting at us, and also covering the fact that the meter was in fact in credit not debt. Another image supplied by barns, showed a single step covered in debris but an image he took of the hallway which caught the stairs showed them to be clean. Another image showed the shed full of rubbish, which was in the house when we moved in, another showed a light fitting with the light turned on, which was off in the original picture, showed signs of dust and another picture showed the serrated cooker vent from a different angle to make it look worse than what it was. Barns was so incompetent at his attempt to defraud and steal from us that the only evidence we had to supply was THEIR pictures of the property when we moved in to THEIR own pictures when we moved out. The deposit holding company was confused by this and returned the FULL deposit to us without the need to take the case any further. Please if you rent from these, take your own images and protect yourselves from these obvious thieves. Not everyone will be as lucky as us. DO NOT Trust HUNTERS All images from both moving in and moving out can be supplied so they can't deny any of this, along with recordings from the electricians. Also to add the itinerary pretty much showed the the house was pretty gross when we moved in but we didn't have a choice and we moved out within 10 months and have been at our current property over a year now with not a single issue from us or the landlord, which really goes to show that scumlords are still active. We haven't discussed anything you absolute bafoon, also this isn't a discussion, this is a review😉. You can't even get that right 🤦
I was a tenant via this letting agency for 18 months, while waiting to buy a new home, and had a series of negative experiences. 1) The home I rented was in poor condition throughout. 2) The garden was overgrown and it was my responsibility to address upon moving in. 3) When I raised an issue with poor ventilation leading to mould in the bathroom, I was asked if I could just 'live with it' (despite pointing out I had two young children). 4) A leaking roof took 2 months to repair. 5) A dryer took 2 months to replace. 6) It would take weeks for Dobson's to reply to e-mails, yet harassing e-mails for rent would be received several days before it was due (despite the fact my direct debit was always scheduled for the same time every single month) 7) When I attempted to serve notice at the end of my tenancy, an attempt was made to 'haggle' me into staying longer. 8) Following moving out, the estate agent retains £1230 of my deposit and has failed to even reply to requests for its return. Overall, I would strongly avoid using Dobson's.
One of the worst estate agents I've had the misfortune of dealing with. No communication, incapable of selling your house and happy to push prospective buyers to other properties in thier portfolio as long as they're getting the commission. Avoid at all cost. Useless
