Really disappointing experience with Martin & Co Nottingham. We viewed a property on 16th May and placed an offer the following week. We then supplied all the requested supporting documents over the following weeks. Since then, we’ve had to chase them constantly — yesterday we were told someone would call back, but no one did. Weeks later, the offer may not have even been passed on to the seller, due to their insistence on an AIP (Agreement in Principle) for a buy-to-let mortgage with a specified monetary value. Our financial advisor explained that this isn’t standard practice at the offer stage, and even emailed the agent directly offering to speak with them, confirm our eligibility, and provide a formal AIP once the offer was accepted. Despite this, we’ve received no meaningful communication, no updates, and no indication that our offer was handled professionally. We’re still unsure whether it was ever presented. This has been an exhausting and needlessly opaque process. If the owner is reading this, please know: buyers deserve transparency, timely responses, and at the very least, the courtesy of knowing where they stand. We’re experienced investors and are constantly looking for opportunities to expand our portfolio, unfortunately I’d never do business with Martin & Co ever again as it’s a waste of time.
AVOID, they will try to scam you out of your deposit, making ridicilous made up stuff to charge the deposit. This agency should be avoided the Worst one in Nottingham.
From the very start they were un organised and didn’t help me when they said they would. The lettings team and people who show properties are useless, know nothing and offer no solutions to questions when asked. They have useless forms you need to fill in. Several hoops through out the application stages is just a turn off. When moving out they subcontract a company to take photos and try to nit pick everything. When I mean everything, I mean everything. Even stuff which was present on moving in they will try and claim for. It’s pathetic. The landlord was none the wiser and I hope for his sake moves away from this company, he deserves better representation.
Very poor customer service
I viewed a property , 9 Collison street, Notthingham NG7 5AS at 13.20 on 3rd February 2025. Mr Luke wilson from your Notthingham office showed me the property. The asking price was £175000, I made an offer of £175000 04/02/2025. I got email from him saying that another offer was made on that property and I could make my final offer until 4 pm next day. I called him 2 days later if property available and he said it was available and I could make an offer. I made an offer of £179000. He replied me on 7/02/2025 and told me that Unfortunately, the vendor has now accepted another offer on the property. The property is still advertised and I asked a friend of mine to call the Nottingham branch ask to arrange a viewing. He was told it was available for viewing. I called the office 5 minutes after his call and explained the situation and the property is still advertised for sale. I was told an offer was accepted for the property and property not available any more. The person on the phone was not friendly either. what an unprofessional company it is. I wanted to contact their head office but I gave up after seeing bad comments on the Trustpilot.
Be carefull, take a lot or pictures when you check-in and out. They tried to claim our full deposit. Furtunatelly, TDS agreed with us and we got the money back
You are the worst of the worst when it comes to competency of your job. You exploit people for your gain. You should look seriously into improvement inside ur house.
Unethical and unprofessional practices! Robbie Jacques got in contact when our contract was due for renewal after 1 year. We expected it to automatically go onto a 1 month rolling contract (as per the original contract we signed) but this was not the case. When we checked the information it was a 6 month contract which did not suit us as we were buying a house. We made contact to say we would prefer the rolling contract but was told very rudely that the LL is looking for a minimum of 6 months. This put us in a very difficult position, we offered to pay the LL £25 per month on top of the increased rent and offered to go onto a 2 month rolling contract. Again, told in rude term that this was not acceptable. I did some research and found that some letting agents do this to try and increase their fees. The advice I found was to ask for the LL address which they legally have to give you within 21 days. This way I could make contact with the LL and explain the situation personally. After doing this I had a quick reply confirming the 1 month rolling contract was accepted along with the original rent increase. I did not receive the LL's address which I think is actually against the law. We recently handed our notice in and I asked again (6 months after the original request) for the LL's address and still no response. We have decided not to make a formal complaint because we do not want to have to deal with this business again. However, wanted to make others aware of their unprofessional and unethical practices. Please avoid if possible!
