These are quite possibly the worst agents around. We were left without electricity for 3 days, hot water/ heating for 7 days and water for 2 days. They said just go to your friends house then, then they tried to take 75% of our deposit when we moved out. They are very shifty. Always check their extra charges and photograph everything when you move in and out. This has been a very steep and expensive learning curve. They come round whenever they want for a surprise inspection. They are rude and do not answer any queries you have. I found the women there to be worse than the men, especially if you are a woman complaining. They treated me and my partner like we were prisoners with no rights. Do not use, you have been warned.

Thank you for leaving an online review. We have never had a tenant named Adam Newbury, but are confident of who this review has been left by. We are sorry that you are so unhappy with Martin & Co. However, factually, your review is largely incorrect. No electricity problems were reported throughout your tenancy. The boiler problem was fixed within a reasonable amount of time. To our knowledge you had running water at all times. You were not told to shower at a friend’s house, but rather asked if you had anywhere else you could shower out of concern. You were offered temporary heaters but turned them down. You were given (and you signed for) a full inventory of the property and its contents before moving in which you had the opportunity to amend, but did not. Your deposit is still held and protected with the Deposit Protection Service and has not been touched; all tenants are at liberty to dispute proposed deductions and have an independent adjudicator make a decision based on evidence provided by both parties. We have your signed documentation agreeing to all agency fees in advance of the tenancy starting; there are no hidden charges. We give a minimum of 48 hours written notice of management visits which take place roughly every six months.

If you want a company which promises you various things and does not deliver, does not return telephone calls when you try and call them, then this company is for you

Moved into a flat that was left in a disgusting condition. Urine was left in the toilet which stunk up the property upon walking in for the first time. We had to shampoo the carpet before moving furniture in. We also extensively cleaned the kitchen and bathroom ourselves (including the toilet) - something that should have been done before having been handed the keys! Over a week later and after immediately informing Martin & Co. of this, I was told by email that "Martin & Co, are not legally obliged to have the property professionally cleaned".

Martin & Co are the worst lettings agents I have ever dealt with . in my the staff are unprofessional and very rude, unhelpful when there are issues then never respond quickly we had to wait over one month for some one to come and fix the fences and the the kitchen light unite, Be aware of them before you move in they make it for you 5 star service everything it is ok with no problems at all. Be aware when you want to move out they will make it for you the hardest and the most expensive day for you even the inventory check you will pay for there staff to do for you. When we moved in - The fridge was dirty with fungi we did clean it our self. -hole in the wall - The bed and mattress very dirty we ask them to move it they never did even we have our bed and mattress. - The carpets dirty smelling we clean it. - Scratches on the doors and windows - The paint everywhere in the kitchen *** just to be aware all of this not listed on the inventory list and we have to pay money from our deposit when we check out.****
