We are extremely pleased with the service we receive from Northwood. They are very professional and keep us updated every step of the way. They are the best letting agents we have used and would certainly recommend Northwood Barnstaple.

Hi Fritz, I am really sorry that you are not happy however, we only manage the communal areas of your flats and I believe from our previous conversations that the problem is in relation to your neighbours. We do not manage individual properties and as we have previously advised, you need to contact the owner or the letting agent of the flat in question to deal with any problems that your neighbours maybe creating for you. However, they will only be able to do anything if there is a breach of their tenancy agreement or the lease. I would advise you again to contact the owner of the property and let them know that you are still experiencing problems. We work hard to keep the communal areas clean and to create safe environment for all residents. We have enjoyed working with you; carrying out regular inspections of the common parts with you and do hope that these continue in the future.

*.....the most disgusting people I have ever met......completely unprofessional and with a behaviour of 2 years old......I have never seen a director and a manager behaving like this in my life. We wanted to ask a flat in Barnstaple for my pregnant daughter who is dew in November. On the 02.09.2021 I have called the agency manager to speak about the flat. We asked if we can rent on our company name , which is a big and old business in the Muddiford (a sawmill, probably most of you you know us). She said yes but we have to pay some fees first and she will take the flat off market. Said yes, paid the same day and then she asked for the documents. We provided what she asked, less the personal details of the director of our company as we didn't understand the importance as long as we are renting on company name , not his personal name. So the only thing they asked about the company were... the name, address, reg number and a bank statement. All sent. They have never asked for anything else from the company. We have seen the flat after one week from payment...on the 09.09.2021...flat that was full of boxes from the previous tenant. So we couldn't see too much and we asked for another viewing when the flat is ready. Just lies that they will come back and nothing. We were keep calling to ask them if they need anything else and again they were saying they have everything they need , we just have to wait... Anyway , after 3 weeks( when we stopped looking for another house)....they told us that we can't go on with the application as they looked on I don't know what site and they have seen that our assets in 2018 were £850....So a sawmill that needs at least a space, a machine and wood to operate, has assets of £850.....ridiculous!!!!! We called them and asked to clarify about this , asked to go in there with all our documents. They refused ....I still went. And in there shock!!!!! beside the fact they didn't even wanted to listen to me, being very violent in their approach, they totally refused to look at my documents , pushed me out the office and the director was singing loud in my ear when I was trying to speak with the manager..... They have refunded us the money in full the same day( money that were non-refundable on the invoice that they have sent to us)....wonder why???? So now, we have no flat, we didn't look for another one , there is nothing available on the market and my daughter had a panic attach and now she is very stressed about her having the baby next month and not being able to move by then....all of these affecting her situation Thank you for nothing!!!! only lies and unprofessional management ....

Dear Roxana, Thank you for your feedback. You have painted a completely false picture of what occurred. The company that you represent was trying to secure accommodation for your daughter through (which I\'m sure HMRC would be interested to know if this is an legitimate company activity\/expense) failed the referencing process. During the referencing process, you tried via bullying and intimidation of my staff , to secure the tenancy without concluding the main referencing process. Your company were evasive when it came to any verification of income and failed to even provide basic account information which any reputable and viable company should be able to do. Your partner also made disrespectful comments about the previous tenant which were unnecessary and spiteful. When I was advised about the lack of co-operation, bullying tactics, rude and aggressive behaviour from your company in telephone conversations and via e-mail, I took the decision that we didn\'t want your company as tenants. This is a decision I took and where this is the case we as a company, we always refund any fees that have been paid. You then decided to come to our offices and behave like a spoilt child that didn\'t get there way. Despite us advising you on many occasions that the decision has been made and is final. You started shouting and demanding we look at the files you had brought in. This we reiterated was pointless as the decision had been made however you becoming increasingly uncooperative and tried to intimidate Margaret standing menacingly over her desk which was also scaring our dog. I do not tolerate bullying and aggression towards my staff and asked you to leave several times which you refused. As you were scaring staff and the dog I started to singing to drown out the noise coming from your mouth. You weren\'t prepared to listen to what we said so why should we give you the courtesy of an audience. You eventually left (you weren\'t pushed as you claim) but only when we had to threaten to call the police, slamming the door hard and causing the glass to quiver on our large windows. As stated, we as company will not tolerate bullying and intimidating behaviour towards our staff and will certainly not be entertaining any application for accommodation from you, your company or anyone who is associated with it. Agents be aware!

The most crooked estate agents I have ever dealt with and I hope no one else ever has to suffer the ordeal we have, however, after talking to others renting from them it has come to light that the treatment we have recieved is common place. Hi Tawni, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review even though it isnt a positive one, we do welcome feedback. We are very sorry that we feel this way but we do have to carry out the instructions of our landlords. In this instance, your landlord wants to sell his property and has a waiting buyer. We had to serve you with a notice to end your tenancy so that the property could be sold. We did advise you prior to you signing up for the property that it was the intention of the owner to sell the property after the 6 month tenancy. We informed you as soon as we knew that the property was being put on the market for sale and we have updated you every step of the way. The property was listed for sale in July 2020 and you have had 5 months to find alternative accommodation. We have also offered you several other properties for you to move to but for whatever reason, you haven't felt that they were right for your family and have turned down the offers. It is difficult when you have to leave the home that you love and we understand your frustration, however we do have to follow our clients instructions and we have done so legally and acted professionally throughout the whole process and will continue to do so.

If you're thinking of renting through Northwood... Don't!

Northwood’s are lovely people, there’s no denying it, what is slightly baffling from a business point of view is why they would risk their company’s decent reputation and allow a couple of unqualified, morally bankrupt cheats to look after the property themselves and not the agents??? The letting business is a profession based on honesty and trust and having people completely lacking in these important skills is a terrible mistake. The property we rented for the short period of time was absolutely lovely but after 6 months of being constantly harassed, we decided enough was enough and handed in our notice. We almost lost our deposit to these villains (the Landlords not Northwood’s), but because Northwood’s seem quite happy to have people like this on their books, my review and lowest possible score reflects this. Until Northwood’s firm up their policy of allowing unvetted and unqualified people and do the skilled customer liaisons themselves, I don’t expect this will be the last review to mention this

Thank you John for the feedback. As I am sure you are aware, it is the landlord who determines the service that they employ an agent for, not the other way round. In this case, the landlord only requested a Tenant Find service, rather than our award winning management service. We have successfully provided a number of tenants over the years at various properties for this landlord without any issues or complaints from the tenants. We are aware that towards the end of your tenancy your relationship with the landlord broke down and there was a dispute in relation to your deposit. Being a responsible landlord, your deposit was correctly registered with one of the recognised protections schemes allowing the dispute to go to arbitration and having an independent body making a decision on any awards. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the way things turned out but we wish you luck in the future and hope that you are both happy in your new home.
