After a decent service from Homebuyers during our tenancy, we had a very negative ending to our tenancy. Homebuyers wanted to take approx 90% of our deposit, complaints included scuffs to the mail box and plug sockets, a ridiculous cleaning fee (£300 on a 2 bed terrace) despite us spending hours cleaning which included using a rug doctor on the property before we left. No concerns were ever raised following inspections during our tenancy, however the final inspection was damning and extremely negative. We genuinely looked after this property and loved out time there, we may as well have trashed the place before we left given the final inspection. Also Homebuyers refused to let us return to the property to rectify anything. However we did dispute this with DPS and we got our full deposit back. We didn't have photos of the property, having never been in this situation before we didn't think we'd need to and we were confident we'd looked after the place, so we lacked evidence but still won the dispute. Homebuyers will warn you that you can be charged if you take forward a dispute, DPS were quick to tell us otherwise so please if you're in the same situation that we were in, go to a third party and take it forward formally, as I said we got our fill deposit back. Interestingly the reviews from landlords are very positive and not so much from tenants, its clearly a bias service. Unfortunately as a tenant renting a property, I can not recommend Homebuyers.
